  1. Anyone on here running Vista 64 with a working wireless adapter? I have installed Visat 64ultimate on my new PC build but overlooked the fact that the adapter I bought is 32bit. I've tried downloading the latest drivers from the Netgear site but they don't work. I've also rang Netgear and they say they have no drivers for 64bit OS's.... I've had a look online for 64bit adapters but can only get 32 bit ones, anyone know to one? I can get a wired connection to my Ethernet if needs must but it will be a PITA to do!
  2. Thanks for the help guys, sorted it now. Accessed the router via the wired connection with Jake's info and removed all security. I'm out in the sticks anyway so don't know why I encrypted the connection in the first place! :innocent:
  3. Oh, I thought it would be unique to me - not universal! I'll look into it....
  4. It's a Livebox from orange, you can log onto the router but you need some kind of ip address to input into your browser IIRC. I guess I'll have to ring orange Tech Support, I was hoping to avoid them overseas muppets if I could. Plus they charge premium rate for tech support!
  5. No it's an old router, it was me that set it up. It has a wired and wireless connection already on it. I'm trying to add another wireless connection but it's asking for my WPA passphrase. I guess I would have created one when I set the router up but that was over a year ago and I've no clue what it is. Is there anyway i can access the router via the connections already attached and view the passphrase? Or perhaps remove security altogether (I have no neighbors so security isn't a must)
  6. Trying to set-up my new HTPC on my wireless network. Thing is my connection is encrypted and I haven't a clue what my WPA passphrase is. Any idea where I can get this from? I take it the WEP code on my wireless router is not what it's asking for?
  7. Who's Steve Manley? EDIT: Done a search, found him! Cheers...
  8. Do all dealerships charge a fixed price for parts? I need some fig 8's and lower arms for my GT4 suspension. Toyota by me are charging a ridiculous 112 quid for a Fig 8. As it's something they order in especially they say they can't give me any discount. I've asked Nic on here and he can get it delivered to me for 65 quid, but it will take 4 - 5 weeks! I kinda need it sooner than that, UK Toyota are my only option.
  9. We've been with Sky since when it very first came out. Back then you only had one sports and one movie channel plus a handful of other channels, half of them foreign! That was ok for me though, they had this German channel called RTL2 that showed soft porn Friday and Staurday nights! I loved it at the time (I'd be early teens then!) We have Sky+ at the moment and one multiroom, we pay £55 and have both sports and movies. Does that sound too much? not checked on what packages they're offering for a while... Personally, I think Sky is as necessary a 'utility' as electric or water
  10. EDIT: Woo hoo!! fixed it. Just needed to install onboard graphics driver from Asus CD ROM Didn't think I needed to bother as everything seemed to work fine on monitor!
  11. So could it be driver issues? I'm confused. The pc works perfect with monitor and projector, just not with a plasma. I don't understand how it works fine with one and not the other. It even boots up without the flicker/jump, it just starts when Windows has loaded...
  12. I stand corrected. I really am a noob as you can see!
  13. We had an office extension built at our house, we needed internet in the office and in the house. I tried everything possible on the wireless route. Different routers, more powerful routers, signal boosters etc etc. Nothing gave me a decent signal. In the end I had to go down the wired route. I went to Maplins and bought the cable I needed, they sell it off a roll. I then used that and have had a perfect solid connection since. If you can go down the wired route it will be a lot better and cheaper in the long run.
  14. Scrap that theory, just tried a DVD player with same HDMI lead and Plasma and it works perfect. It's just the HTPC that wont work with it, yet it works fine with a monitor and a projector??? Do you know to working torrent of Vista Scott?
  15. I think the screen flicker is either down to the HDMI cable (cheap ebay job) or the Plasma itself. I've just been and checked the PC with our projector downstairs that has a HDMI cable - everything works fine and I can adjust the resolution. For some reason i can't adjust it with my Plasma hooked up. So Windows MCE?? Is that 64bit? Will it recognise all of my RAM? Oh yeah, my spec is as follows: Antec Fusion Case Asus P5E-VM HDMI Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 (2 x 3.00Ghz 6Mb Cache 1333 FSB) 2 x 2GB – Corsair 4GB Hitachi Deskstar T7K500 500GB Samsung H653B - 20x DVD+/-/RW Netgear Wireless 802.11g 108Mbps
  16. Oh man, more problems now! I successfully installed Xp Pro earlier but having some more difficulty. Firstly, the PC works perfectly OK with my monitor which I setup on. I've now disconnected from my monitor and hooked it up to my Plasma with a HDMI cable. The screen resolution needs changing but it wont let me, also the screen jumps/flickers constantly. It doesn't do it when in BIOS or when loading, just when the desktop appears. Secondly, I got XP Pro as I wanted 64bit OS because I have 4mb of Ram. Problem is XP only recognises 3.24mb of Ram and it says in System that it's a 32bit OS. Have I the wrong XP Pro? I just assumed they were all 64bit...
  17. Thanks for the info guys, I will look into your suggestions. BTW, where is the POST screen? I've posted up my problems up on a PC forum and had no luck as yet, figures that the guys on the Supra forum know best!
  18. Thanks Mike, you were exactly right! I have two POWER SW wires coming from the front display but only one place on the mobo to attach it to. I switched the spare I hadn't connected with the one I had connected, it now works. BUT, When I powered up this time I got an error. It said something like 'CPU Fan Error detected - New CPU installed'.... It then gave me the option to hit F1 and enter BIOS set-up which I did. Although, as I'm clueless I didn't know what to do once in the BIOS so I just exited. When I did that it asked for my boot CD which I inserted. Windows XP is now installing, my HD is being formatted as we speak. That said, should I be worried about the CPU fan error? The CPU fan was working at the time and still is....
  19. Hmmm, that sounds correct. No drives are powering up, no fans etc... I do recall having a PW wire from the front of the case that I didn't know where to connect to on the mobo. I'll go back and have another look... Cheers dude.
  20. Ooh, sorry misunderstood. I can't turn the power on or off on the front of the case with the power/reset buttons. I can only power up with the switch on the rear, this switch powers the mobo and case simultaneously.
  21. Yeah think so, there's a green light on the motherboard and that comes on when I power up
  22. So, I've finally got everything I need for my first ever PC build, a HTPC. I've finished putting everything together this morning and just powered the system up. Only pretty much nothing has happened!! I have an Antec Fusion case which has an LCD on the front, this lights up constantly. There's also a light on the mobo so I know that's getting power too. But, the monitor is receiving no signal, the fans haven't came on, the DVD drive wont open and it's not beeping as it says it would in the mobo manual. My worst fears have come true and I haven't a clue what I'm supposed to do next!!
  23. I've done some stupid things when I was a kid.... After watching a movie with my mate called Pump Up The Volume me and my friend thought we'd try and create our own pirate radio station - like in the movie. We basically just dismantled our own stereos and put them in a wooden box When it came to putting the plug back together we didn't know which wire went where. Save having to take the plug apart again should I have guessed wrong, I left the back off. I then pushed the bare plug into the socket with my hand on top of the exposed live and neutral wires/pins. I literally bounced of the ceiling when I did it, had a massive blister on my palm too. Now that really could've been a whole lot worse!
  24. The Tv Show on ITV, we watch it every night when eating our tea. The things is though, I just don't understand why anybody would split the money at the end! It's got nothing to do with decency or anything like that, it's not as if you will see that person again. You have a 50/50 chance of winning the money regardless so you should just steal. How stupid would you feel if you split and they stole?...
