    Supra V8

Well they do reckon the V8's a lighter unit than the jza80 2jZ lumps and sits further back. Dunno how much that would improve handling, would be interesting to run it round a track.
  2. They are close specs/perforance wise, but then again the same point was raised with the introduction of the 997 (911) Turbo which has similar performance specs to the CGT. CGT's a totally different car at the end of the day, made mostly of carbon fibre, super light, ceramic clutch, 5.7 litre V10 NA blah, blah, blah. They're comparable on paper, completely different machines to drive!
  3. The grass is always greener mate........ In the same way i'm sure some of the guys with auto TT's would like manuals. I'm sure you could lose your license in an NA just as easily as a TT..... ..........just like there's nothing that bad about a TT auto except the fact it's not a manual and it probly has more pro's than con's..... ......still doesn't stop you thinking about a manual. I'm sure once twin-plated up and hitting a nasty bit of bank hol traffic i'd be wishing i was back in an Auto. It's tough though, i've been avoiding unecessary spending on my car for the last 2years now cos i've been thinking bout getting a manual/something different, at the same time i'm not prepared to give the car away just to go manual so it's starting to look like i'm stuck with it for a while yet.

    Supra V8

300bhp&ftlb torque, seems pretty poor? and that's on Thor's Dyno!

    Supra V8

What's the R154 manual gearbox from, is that an NA box?
  6. I thought the NA manual shell would be a good idea, you'd get a manual pedal box with that wouldn't you?
  7. Excellent, never actually seen a Porsche being abused quite so much! Seen the new EVO 997 GT2 report, can't wait!!!

  10. Should have got Jemca to fit it... Just yanking your chain mate, not had much luck with your car and garages have you? You how the saying goes, if you want a job done right......... It is wrong though that you should part with hard earned cash and lots of it, to basically have the piss taken with the quality of work. The only thing that's given me any grief on my car and still isn't right, was the only thing i let someone else do! The Emanage i got fitted and mapped by a trader when i first got the car 4years ago. I've managed to get it working ok myself by not utilising the ignition harness, but with the ignition harness connected still isn't right, being too stubborn and tight to hand my wallet over to the original trader to "investigate" it's being left for now as mortgages and c/tax bills seem to take priorty these days.

    ''Forte''

Oh yes, using your link i just saw the cooling system flush they do also. I suspect they made a couple of quid extra by chucking the fuel system additive in his tank/on the bill, but it. Won't do any harm tho, cat friendly and so on.

    ''Forte''

I thought Forte was just a brand name. They do loadsa stuff, fuel additives which help clean your valves and what not, i recently tried their cooling system cleaner to try and flush residual oil from the cooling system a 911 i replaced a cracked cylinder head on. Worked a treat, having said that i did also send away the rads flushed also. We used to chuck a can of the fuel additive on every service but that soon stopped with reducing of service costs and fixed menu pricing, blah, blah.
  13. I really don't think your jumped up tinkertoy mechanic experience is exclusive to the fact it was a Toyota main dealer. I'm sure there's some professionals at Supra specialists out there who would quite happily damage and strip the nuts from your fibreglass front bumper and hand the keys back to you.... Wasn't so long ago every man and his dog was singing and dancing about Turbofit...... Truth is a bad experience can also be bad luck, as a result of your experience that Jemca may refuse the next guy in a Supra that turns up with a Do Luck bumper and he'll be havin a row with the bloke in the showroom.... guess you saved him a lot of agro.
  14. Ouch, still good job you wasn't getting them to do a lot of work!
  15. Heard good things about HAWK Brembo Spec at a reasonable price from MVP, alternatively I've had Porterfield of Whifbitz before which are good but bit pricey, as are Endless that Envy do which I've heard great things about but priced accordingly!
  16. Must have paid an arm and a leg for the privilege of a Vaux garage doing your paintwork, any reason you didn't go independant? Even insurance companies try and get out of Main Dealer bodyshops!
  17. Hmmm, I suspect they refer their technical enquires to some form of UK based TOYOTA hq, and if they don't have the info to hand because it's not a UK model I would think TOYOTA uk shouldn't have any problems liasing with Japan on their behalf. I guess all in all may be a lot of time consuming enquires for something they should be able to workout for themselves ie fitting a clutch being familiar with the brand in general. Where more vehicle specific data or diagnosis is required i guess you'd have to be prepared for them to hold fire while the enquires were made, meaning your cars off the road for longer. Independant garages will be more willing to take on anything and source information from what may be from a main dealer point of view, unauthordox sources, i.e. the internet, etc As a main dealer also has to be cautious of also recieving bad press for the work they carry out which could have legal implications as opposed to 5mins of abuse in the showroom having to admit they dont wish to work an import/NA Supra that TOYOTA never intended for the UK market.
  18. We get a fair number of Import as well as UK Spec cars through our workshop (not TOYOTA), they seem quite popular because of the savings to be had over UK's and just the fact a few owners being international businessmen and what not get there cars looked at whilst over here. Usually LHD's Imports depending on where they were sourced. They can be a PITA sometimes with their variations in specification, usually electrical stuff. Different alarms systems and different frequencies used on remotes and garage door openers to over here due to legislations in differing countries, differing wiring looms/diagrams, software issues when using our diagnostic equipment and different coding specifications/parameters for the numerous control units found on the more modern vehicles. Sometimes emmission and mapping related issues due to the original intended country of origin. The work still gets taken on, after all we are a main dealer. The fact that they're turning down work suprises me and if there was anything they were unfamiliar with who would be in a better position to source technical info than a Toyota dealer, afterall if OE parts are needed you don't go and pick them up from Halfords.
  19. How did you get on with your intermittant squeal dude, it was looking like a wheel bearing, as the disc backing plate/stone guard adjustment Elite did didn't cure it, remember tellin you to double check your brake pads even though you'd already looked at them?
  20. Sure i just saw these in someones garage clearout who's moving house and selling their Supe so not fitting them, might find if you search.
  21. Does that mean you bought it? It's a gorgous looking car in the pics, rare as rockin horse colour and UK Spec to boot.
