  1. A poor tyre/wheel/offset can make a massive difference. My first MK4 had about the same power as my current one, but due to bad wheel choices would spin up the wheels at the drop of a hat. With the stock wheels my current one takes some serious provoking to unstick.
  2. To just lose the forum for a short time like that to only a limited number of users, especially when one of the big exchanges has been having problems - classic routing issue.
  3. Er - what the smeg? http://bbs.scoobynet.com/non-scooby-related-4/657248-urgent-advice-needed-younger-polish-girlfriend-now-trying.html I detect a bit of manure here.
  4. Nope - more likely to be a routing issue. I know LINX has been playing up.
  5. Throw the wheel in a skip - it's dangerous to you, her and whoever else is around when it lets go. If she likes the styling so much then buy another the same, but take that rim and tyre and skip them.
  6. Call Gary at Refined Reflections (http://www.refinedreflections.co.uk/) He knows lots and lots about paint, and would possibly be able to clean it up for not much more than your excess. Hey may not, but what have you got to lose?
  7. Doesn't it depend on how good your boss looks?
  8. Stop the press! 15 year newer design is better shocker! Best get this on the front page of all the papers. Enjoy your car for what it is, not what it's 'better' than. You don't see E-Type Jag owners bleating because a Clio can out perform them.
  9. I wonder if part of the problem is a weak signal from the Netgear. Have you tried high-gain antenna? I have a Draytek router with 2 high-gain antenna on, and I can quite easily get a signal inside my garage some 70-80ft away. I've also never had a problem with interference from my 360.
  10. On the way home today I noticed that the A/C light was flashing. I poked it off and back on again a couple of times, and each time it seemed to engage the aircon for a moment, then disengage again. I tried the diagnostic but that came up clear. However, after restarting the engine there was a rather loud and peculiar 'sproing' noise from under the engine, and again the aircon cut out. I left it alone until I got home, and now when I engage the aircon there's a metallic sort of 'grinding' noise coming from under the bonnet. I haven't checked it's location exactly, but I'm pretty certain it's likely to be the pump. Is it best just to replace it? If so, is a cheap s/hand one worth it?
  11. Where on the wheel does it list the offset? You've got me curious now...
  12. I know there's no indicator for the front fog/driving lights on the Supra. Out of curiosity, when should/shouldn't you use driving lights then?
  13. They don't even have fog lights out there - not on the rear anyway.
  14. Blimey - look how little benefit there is putting a T61 on standard cams compared to hybrids on longer cams!
  15. Seems like you've done all it's worth doing without spending silly money. I'd still go for 2Gb even with a new build, unless I was running 64bit Vista - and then I'd be having *much* bigger issues!
  16. Extra memory may not be the best way to improve loading times. If you're running XP 32bit then it has a limit of less than 4GB anyway - I forget the specifics of the limitation though. Something to do with a single application only being able to see 2GB anyway or similar. There's also the aspect of system devices reserving address space. What might be a better bet could be investing in some Raptor drives if you don't already have them.
  17. Actually Michael, are you sure it's the Q6700 that's the same cost as the 6850, and not the Q6600? Anyway, there is an interesting article here that may be of interest to you. I personally don't go for overclocking, but you may be prepared to go down that route.
  18. Er, yes it is. It's 4 cores each clocked at 2.66GHz. Anyway - to be quite honest, at this moment in time I'd go for the E6850. You're getting a higher clockspeed per core, and seeing as even new games often aren't yet making 'full' use of multi-core CPU's you will see more real-world benefit from a smaller number of higher clocked cores. Even Unreal Tournament 3 will only use 2 main threads, and while the devs have said that with more cores available some of the other minor activities will be run on separate threads, it's questionable whether that will be enough to counter the fact that the 2 main threads will be running (in your case) some 13% slower. In a year or so when your CPU might actually start to be a bottleneck, *then* you can decide to swap it out for a by then much cheaper quad unit. Or switch to AMD - the memory performance of AMD CPU's is still much, much faster than Intel ones.
  19. It'll be within a fag paper of being the same though surely? Seeing as the Supra is a GS300 in disguise.
  20. 32 eh? Oops, I've always used 35psi. I'm talking about the 8.5" front, 10" rear 18's as seen here: http://www.toplessdriver.com/gallery/albums/shinysam/SUC30205.sized.jpg
  21. Does anyone know what the actual Toyota recommended tyre pressures for these wheels is? I've always wondered...
  22. I have it on my laptop. I made a list of all the things I turned off to make it a usable system - basically I turned it back into XP. However, I'm trying the Aero interface again, and now I've been using it some of the nice features are starting to shine through - just a shame you have to have technical knowledge to be able to make it usable in the first place!
  23. Well, should mine ever come off the car for whatever reason I'll be sure to check, but I can't say if/when that might be. I know that someone else here had an Octagon UJH - I had an M, you have an N(?) and someone had a P, just trying to remember who had that.
