  1. Not Supra! Our new (to us) Micra auto is playing up after 4 days, it's an 03 plate 1.4 auto, but I know nothing of auto boxes really, so asking for thoughts. 1st to 2nd seems OK, in gear it seems to do everything it should - not slipping etc., but going from 2nd to 3rd yesterday the revs went up by a few hundred rpm (depending on how hard I was accelerating at the time) before engaging 3rd. My guess was some kind of solenoid to select gears, or the torque converter itself? Like I said I don't know how they work really. It's on 80k miles and I don't think the fluid's ever been changed, would that do it? It was happening yesterday after half hour to an hour of driving around town, didn't happen this morning when cold. Also, when stopped the battery light sometimes flickers on, not sure if that might be related - it had a new battery put on about a week ago.
  2. Haha, awesome. I have all of them on DVD in a nice boxed set. We've watched them through I think about 3 times now.
  3. The only amber colour LEDs I know of are wedge type: http://www.horizonleds.co.uk/cree-leds/wedge-cree-leds
  4. Reposted from this repost. A couple of times they say "if" we're going to make this car.
  5. Well maybe its worded badly (again) but it does say: So it sounds like the GT86-BRZ model; a hybrid chassis that will be used to build the Z4 and Supra on top, so it won't look like the picture as that's the equivalent BRZ, the equivalent GT86 will look (more) like the FT-1 concept, but that means it will be built on the same chassis and drivetrain. The only potential saving grace is this line: This kind of suggests that this "sports car" is separate to the FT-1, so who knows.
  6. I love the GT86 and the fact it's low power but designed as a driver's car. I would HATE for the next Supra to go the same way - it needs to keep the GT image; big and powerful! It can be lightweight of course with modern materials (cost dependant) but it does need 400BHP+, ideally 500BHP would be a good starting point. One thing they can keep from the GT86 is the modifiability - over engineer the thing so people can up the power and make other mods without fear of bits falling off. Maybe they should give an early sample to JamieP for a month to see if it lasts! "New diff please".
  7. I'd heard about the car buyer thing before as well - so if you buy a car from someone you have to get it taxed yourself before you can use it - so no longer can you just go and hand over cash, ring insurance and drive off, you now have to get insurance AND tax sorted before you can go anywhere. I'm guessing the reason for this is that anyone who isn't buying a car at the start of the month will lose money, and the other person may not bother claiming it back - so DVLA get a double win out of it.
  8. Well I hope so but that article is written so it sounds like this concept is actually the new Z4, and Toyota will sell a rebadged version of it similar to the BRZ-GT86 deal. Then there may or may not be a new Supra in the future but it's nothing to do with these images.
  9. The autonews vid says they wanted the design to suggest the history of IL6 engines. Wouldn't it totally royally suck if it looked like that but had a 1.8 IL4 engine it in.
  10. I prefer the nose - got a hint of F1 to it.
  11. High res please, a little bit of sex wee came out.
  12. I love it. All of it. You guys saying the front looks bad are just wrong.
  13. We have a PITA Jack Russell owner down our road as well, always crapping in our garden (the dog, not the owner). I almost hope my dogs manage to knock the fence down before I stop them.
  14. I know some of you hate the GT-86 but I believe they would go with the same ethos for the new Supra i.e.: a drivers car that's not all about the BHP figure. I think a nice 400BHP toy would be pretty good, particularly if they DO follow the GT-86 ethos and allow tuning, so you can buy bolt on parts and get more power along with all the handling and aesthetic mods available - a proper tuners car like a higher power version of the GT-86. The GTR is the opposite in this respect, yeah it's an awesome car but it seems like they tried everything they could to stop people fiddling and changing it in any way, I hope the new Supra isn't like that.
  15. So do you get flat twin bike engines? Or are they all boxers? I would imagine a flat twin would be very unbalanced?
  16. If you just get a click when you turn the key it's likely a battery thing - whether dead battery or just flat or some other lack of connection I don't know. AA will probably jump start but you'll have to find out why it's dead.
  17. OK the actual description was "fuel heater temperature switch faulty" so probably nothing to do with glow plugs and actually more to do the with the heater near the fuel pump?
  18. Funnily enough I did read it at first as: Nice! Thanks for the info. I've heard the turn on and off 3 times thing but the manual makes it sound really confusing, is it supposed to be: Key out, key in, start engine, wait 30 seconds, key out then in again, start engine, wait 30 seconds etc.? Or is the 30 seconds supposed to be with the engine off? I'm kicking myself because I didn't check the odo before I took it in, so don't know how many miles they added - it looks to have a similar amount of fuel to when it went in (1/4 tank or just under) so doubtful they drove 100+ miles in it. The hole on top of the battery is nearly black instead of green as well suggesting it hasn't done much driving at all and has had the battery nearly drained by lights etc. In fact, maybe low battery could cause a gremlin?
  19. I haven't tried the horn, I'll give that a go later. Fuel filter was changed for genuine Honda about 5k miles ago. Thing is it was fine when it went into the bodyshop, and they've obviously been doing lots of messing around under the bonnet and on the front end - I can't believe it's a coincidence that something failed in the last 2 weeks!
  20. It's not the fuel filter as it's running fine, fuel filter issues make it stutter and misfire and all sorts they're really picky about fuelling. It starts as normal and runs well.
  21. Got my car back from the bodyshop and I've got engine warning light on and a flashing glow plug light. They deny all knowledge of course. They said the code was to do with fuel heater temperature something or other, so glow plugs. What is there in that system that someone could have knocked or shorted whilst messing about with the front end of the car (replacing bumper, nearside wing and headlight)? Could it be as simple as a fuse? I have no idea where the glow plug fuse is and the manual seems to be no help at all in finding it.
