I reckon I'm pretty good at what I do, but unfortunately what I do isn't particularly specialised. I do IT stuff for small businesses, installation & support, desktop support, fixing computers, laptops, servers, small networks. I genuinely think I do it well though, but it's not really very specialised and there are loads of people who do the same.
I can't write code or design funky web pages, and I don't know anything niche enough like ancient relational databases or business applications.
So I don't see much of a future for myself outside of what I do, small businesses 'IT person' stuff. I have very loyal customers but I'm not gonna be rich any time soon at this rate!
I should push harder on the monthly standing order maintenance stuff, or charge more for non-maintenance customers. I have about 15 monthly payers and I feel financially more secure than ever, but I couldn't buy a house tomorrow, I don't think.
