  1. System -> Preferences -> Personal -> Sessions.
  2. Or why can't somebody make a car that looks identical to that, but has a cheapo 3.5 V6 in it instead
  3. It does look and sound awesome. I wish they would commit to making it, then I might be able to have one in a decade, when all the oil really has ran out
  4. Carrera 4s are easy in a BPU Supra It's the turbos you need to be scared of

Thanks They also come through for Natwest, Citibank (American?), Barclays etc. Those usually say that your account has been suspended and that you must login to reactivate.

Have you never had these emails come through: http://www.css-networks.com/phishing2.jpg ? or similar. They're called Phishing emails. You click on the "Dispute Transaction" or "Verify Password" or whatever it is, and it takes you to a website which looks like PayPal.com. You enter your PayPal password, and credit card numbers etc, but in actual fact you're just giving those details away to a scammer, because it's not even the PayPal site you're on.

The problem for me, is that I see it as a kind of viral thing. It spreads. I find myself making stupid mistakes now too and I attribute it to reading those mistakes all the time on forums like this. Sometimes it's just too much to take. I got a right telling off and even threats of violence for my comments on this one: http://www.messengernewspapers.co.uk/search/display.var.2074149.0.serious_road_accident_in_partington.php
  9. Did you leave the handbrake on? It might be stuck.
  10. I take extra care and say "Supe Pra" fairly slowly. Does the trick I think.

Two and a half hours on and they still haven't taken the site down. That's pretty poor IMO. edit: it's gone. Yay
  12. I think you should probably start by running: "simple-ccsm" from a terminal. See what that does. Then you can do: "apt-get install ccsm" and see if that installs the full ccsm. If it does, run: "ccsm" from the terminal.
  13. Probably. That's how Fedora does it. It enabled wobbly windows and not much else, via a "Desktop Effects" entry under System -> Preferences -> Look & Feel. What I had to do on Fedora 8 was install compiz-fusion, compiz-fusion-extras, and ccsm. Then, it doesn't do anything new, until I run "compiz-manager". At which point it all starts happening and I can use the "compizconfig-settings-manager" (that's a key point.. it's referred to as CCSM if you're doing any googling) to change all the effects. I just put compiz-manager as a startup entry under Preferences -> Personal -> Sessions.
  14. Well, the 3D desktop, known as compiz, typically gives you wobbly windows and such like. Things like the cube are additional features you can turn on. Have you got wobbly windows? IRC is Internet Relay Chat. It's like group MSN, if you like, but the original proper thing You start up an IRC client, which would probably be Xchat, but it might just be down as "IRC" under Internet on the Applications menu. You choose a network to connect to.. there are many, e.g efnet, dalnet, ircnet, freenode. The one you want is Freenode as that's where all the open source projects have their chat channels. but before you can talk on many of those channels, you need to have registered your nickname with a password, which you do after you connect to Freenode with your IRC client, but before you join a chatroom ("channel").
  15. It's no stranger than a Mac really though.
  16. Have you got yourself onto irc.freenode.net yet ? Use the irc client that's (presumably) already installed. The server is irc.freenode.net which will already be filled in, then just "/join #ubuntu" You will need to register with nickserv first though.. something like "/msg nickserv help" should get you started, but ISTR it's "/msg nickserv register mypassword" and as long as nobody else has the nickname you've chosen, that'll be your nick for ever. When you go back on you have to "/msg nickserv identify mypassword" to identify yourself. The above is all necessary because most of the channels have channel modes set to not allow unregistered/identified users to speak.

The domain-name generator on that fakenamegenerator isn't too bad! It's just given me two cool sounding domains: pixospace.com and voozoom.com Should I register 'em?

    Excel experts?

I think Mike's method is easiest, as it's simply just changing the order of operations, but I will try this out too. Thanks.

I've done it four times from different IP addresses now. How bored am I! I did report it to the hosting company first as well though.

    Excel experts?

Hmm. You might be onto a clever solution there, but if the Excel locking really is limited in the way I think it might be, then it could show the same symptoms e.g. overriding the status of the initially opened document. I'll give it a go. Good idea
