  1. I just bought a Jap facelift car with 105,000 on the clock, and I kid you not it drives and looks a million times better than many of the 55,000 mile examples I've seen.
  2. yes there's a VVTi one on the autotrader for £8,350 Sixth one down (clicky!)
  3. Thanks again guys. pics: http://www.sam-e.co.uk/newbaby/1.JPG http://www.sam-e.co.uk/newbaby/2.JPG http://www.sam-e.co.uk/newbaby/3.JPG http://www.sam-e.co.uk/newbaby/4.JPG
  4. hmm. top job there Bromy! Wayne: are there any boost gauge's available which are as small as the stock gauge?
  5. Glove box is a possibility. Bromy: looking forward to those pics, thanks!
  6. It's not ridiculously cheap though is it. £4,000 was the sort of thing I was expecting when you said cheap. £6k is reasonable considering mileage etc. A UK car with the same mileage as that (100,000) would only be worth £6,500 realistically.
  7. hmmm. I just want to keep the brand-new car look, that's all I suppose if someone made a dual-gauge clock/boost gauge, which looked 'modern' (like the 10yr old facelift clock) instead of all shiny and glossy, then that'd be good.

    bpu?

as above. Refers to an increase in boost, usually achieved by decatting and fitting a free-er flowing exhaust, and an FCD so that fuel-cut doesn't happen when the ECU sees this higher boost.
  9. I need a boost gauge for monitoring BPU boost levels, but I don't want to remove the OEM facelift clock, or have anything else on view. Any ideas? I have a 52mm SPA dual-gauge (boost & temp), but that's meant for the clock hole.
  10. Shuper. This is sounding good then The stock suspension is sooooooo nice too How sad am I? It's not in need of lowering like my UK car was, and even though I tried for the softest aftermarket springs for that car, this new one with (I presume) stock facelift jap suspension is light years ahead in terms of comfort and umm.. everything!
  11. Will it be possible for me to reach BPU levels of boost (18psi) with the OEM exhaust, simply by fitting a full 3" decat? Call me a boring sod, but since getting this stock J-Spec motor, I'm seriously loving the quietness, and have decided to leave off the almost-new Greddy Power-Extreme II exhaust that I had on the UK car. So, will it work? p.s. yup.. these Jap cars are very nice I can't get over how drivable and 'springy' feeling it is off the no1 turbo. There's very little to notice from no2 though, but I'm comparing against a BPU UK car while this Jap car is completely stock.
  12. Car had had a new gearbox which was thought to be needed due to a noise, which was later found to be the engine mounts (normal on a facelift car). So engine mounts & gearbox have been replaced. Drop-links went bad, and in fixing them something got messed up with the ABS sensors, so they were replaced too... The chap had spent some money maintaining this car. He's been driving Supras for the last 20 years but is getting arthritis (sp?) now so can't be doing with getting in/out of the Supra any more.
  13. I really was lucky. I crashed my car on Sunday, and got straight on the autotrader that night. Saw the facelift car and rang him in the morning. It'd only been on the autotrader for two days. I did my shit re: getting old wheels back for my crashed car, fitted them, stuck the Volks in the Orion and went to the bank to draw out as much cash as I could, which was only £400. I then drove over to Kidderminster in the Orion with the Volks in the back, and fell in love with the car. Made a deal with the guy where I'd leave £400 deposit on the basis that insurance money or something would be through soon, and said he could keep the 17" TSW wheels & tyres that were on the Supra so he could get a bit more money. He was going to include the Toyota 17" rims anyway. I left my Volks with him and 10 minutes after leaving Kidderminster I got a picture message through on my phone of the car with my Volks on it Three weeks later the money was TT'd over and I picked up the car
  14. So this is more than just the bearing? I don't know the full deal with the RWB but there's the bearing, clips, oil seals.. quite a bit of stuff, yeah? Or just the bearing and a couple of little pieces?
  15. Thanks guys Thanks Peter! Cheque was posted today too. and Mike, no prob - I probably will sell it, but then with the last car I had to put the old radio back in when I crashed it.. so kind of think I might keep hold of old bits from this too, but we'll see. re: bringing it round well.. can I have some more hours in the day please! I've been wanting to fit my speakers since Wednesday but it's dark when I get home and then I'm round at my lady's house. If only Mascrat was a week later than it was
  16. The audio system is a bit smart too.. it's a Sony CD player, with a Sony MiniDisc player underneath, but the minidisc player is also a digital graphic-EQ display/controller for the CD player. Unfortunately it sounds like you're listening to music in a car - as it does with most car CD players, so my Clarion DXZ928 with the time-delay stuff will be going back in.
  17. Here're some pics: http://www2.css-networks.com/facelift/1.JPG http://www2.css-networks.com/facelift/2.JPG http://www2.css-networks.com/facelift/3.JPG http://www2.css-networks.com/facelift/4.JPG http://www2.css-networks.com/facelift/5.JPG http://www2.css-networks.com/facelift/6.JPG http://www2.css-networks.com/facelift/7.JPG http://www2.css-networks.com/facelift/8.JPG http://www2.css-networks.com/facelift/9.JPG
  18. it's dark now but I'll try for a couple. She needs a good wax, that's all
  19. £6,995, facelift gunmetal TT auto. She's got big UK brakes, active front spoiler, facelift everything, and the condition is absolutely spot on. The only problems are: headlights a bit yellow, but i just brasso'd them and they're a lot better. No ciggy lighter, and the intercooler is missing far too many fins. I have a good condition SMIC to go on. Condition is remarkable. This car has done 102,000 miles (on the clock), but the inside and outside are spotless, the steering wheel is spotless, like brand new, same for the gear lever. The radiator and a/c condensor are in great shape. She's completely stock, except I just fitted my Volk's. The ride is amazing. So smooth and supple - stock suspension. It really makes me wonder if my 105,000 mile car (the old one), which I bought with 58,000 on the clock, had actually done 150,000 miles when I first bought it. There are no dead LED's on the dashboard whatsoever. I do keep looking for the cruise-control switch when I come into 40mph motorway speedcamera restrictions though. Really really pleased
  20. Fourth one down: http://atsearch.autotrader.co.uk/www/cars_search.asp?searchform=&modelexact=1&lid=search_used_cars_full&photo=1&state=none&sort=&make=TOYOTA&min_pr=75&source=0&model=SUPRA&max_pr=&agerange=3&mileage=&miles=1500&trim=facelift&keywords=&postcode=m23+0nw&ukcarsearch_full.x=0&ukcarsearch_full.y=0&ukcarsearch_full=SEARCH
  21. yeah.. I thought that was funny.. or bad.. one or the other
  22. I agree whole-heatedly with Michael & Thorin. You don't need any other firewall.
  23. Just browsing the trader for cars less than 10yrs old, and noticed there are some very well priced facelift TT's on there. There are the usual hurds of 'fake' 1996/1997 cars, which are not facelift and must've been registered with their date of import, but there are some other good examples too, excepting the one from Keighley Trade Centre & their new partner in crime. £8,000 - £9,500 for some fabulous motors. £8,350 for a fabulous looking VVTi auto in gunmetal. Wingless though. £9,500 for an R-reg RSP VVTi auto.
  24. Maybe he just posted up controversial stuff for a laugh. Perhaps he was just getting a giggle out of causing reactions, which is fine and of course means he didn't mean any of the stuff, but it sort of belittles the efforts other people make on here to get on and respect each other.
