  1. That looks pretty good! How was the price? I'd like one of these and a ~61 sized turbo which fits with the stock downpipe, and stock intercooler/air piping.
  2. Yep, but the problem with the turbonetics (and by the looks of it, this eBay one) was that after porting enough, there was hardly any surface left for the gasket. See below - top is the turbonetics one, bottom is Arnout's proper enlarged jobbie http://www.supras.nl/iB_html/uploads/post-2-22086-2jmanifold_005.JPG You already read and replied to it almost a year ago Half way down ( http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=27533 )
  3. It's got the small wastegate hole that Arnout didn't like (didn't leave much mating surface after porting), and he talks about cracks occuring in the Induction Motorsports one, so I'm weary. I guess the price is good. Arnout's unit is maybe £450 incl delivery, and this is £200 including delivery.
  4. I should imagine the 17" space saver will - UK cars come with one too y'know
  5. I've felt more power from 4,000rpm onwards last night at about 23:30 (when I finally got finished ) It was a cold night, and I suppose that's when the intercooler is going to work best.
  6. It took about a month for me to get confirmation that my blue Supra was a write-off. Cheque came not too long after that.
  7. My understanding of 'casting' isn't very good, so I'd like to ask.. is the part (the 'runners') still welded to the back plate, and if so, is this a concern for welding fractures like it is on a tubular manifold? I understand one of Arnout's reasons for going cast (as well as faster spool), was because of the unreliability of tubular manifolds.
  8. Well spotted. Damn that's cheap - £150!! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TOYOTA-Supra-Turbo-Manifold-CAST_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQitemZ180081122562QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWD1V
  9. It's about £45 + vat. There's almost an hours work involved, and if it fails they have to finish off the test next time or re-test at no extra cost.
  10. That'll be four that I've heard of now - Supras.nl, PHR street kit, the one that nobody liked (turbonetics? - the reason Arnout made his better one), and this one.. how much ££ ?

    Lol

Do I feel a 24hr ban coming on for poor humour and taste/decency?

    Lol

Jesus, I didn't even *watch* the video. Is it really grim or something? I saw about 5 seconds of that bloke at the start, then read all the comments below like "WTF?!?! You said this was a helicopter crash" and "FAKE VIDEO!", that's what made me chuckle. I must be ahead of my time

    Lol

It was the comments that made me laugh - people getting all agressive and worked up because they didn't get to see the actual crash. Hey, it was a late night.
  14. Sounds like you're not hitting the kickdown switch. You do realise you have to push down hard don't you? There are two kickdown switches, a gentle one, and a hard one like a Marshall Gov'nor stomp-pedal switch. re the redline - sounds like you were hitting the rev limiter, which is normal, although I do remember Ian C's article saying that the box would change up to prevent you doing this (I'm sure mine just bounces off the limiter though.. perhaps that's only in MANU)

    Lol

    made me laugh (the comments)
  16. It's a minging colour, and not cheap. Comparable cars, perhaps in slightly less minging colours, have been seen to go for up to £2,000 less. Also it has no service history. There's absolutely nothing special about it at all. It's not manual, it's not facelift, it's not a nice colour and it's not VVTi. What's special about that Supra over any other? Cheaper insurance?!
  17. Well, removal was fine, no problems there. It was getting the new one in that turned into a bitch of a job. For a while I thought it just wasn't going to go. When I did eventually get it in, I realised the mounting hardware wasn't lined up right - there's some degree of erm adjustability on the brackets etc when you bolt them to the IC. Also I couldn't get one of the bolts lined up on that Active Spoiler cover thingy that you mentioned, and then it was looking like the lower rubber hose could've done with being longer. and then ( ) I had the usual fun of fixing the undertray in place with all the sheared off bolts etc. This is my second Supra and my last one had half of the undertray bolts sheared off too. All this with 500watts of heat pumping out of my shitty inspection lamp (ok, it's a garden flood light on a wire ) Anyway, all done. The car feels like it has more of a kick when no2 turbo comes online, but that's possibly a placebo effect. I didn't do it with the intention of gaining power, more for peace of mind regarding engine safety. I'm very grateful for the guide BTW, I didn't want to seem unappreciative. I was just having a sarcastic moan that's all
  18. Yeah right! What a bitch of a job this has turned out to be! Give me seized brake pad pins any day!
  19. It was quite funny when I eventually got through it all and figured out WTF was going on
  20. Jason's Pong rocks! It gets bloody fast after a little while. http://www2.css-networks.com/pong.jpg

    She's Alive :)

You'd have thought it would chew up the insides of the intercooler too - it's metal so it wouldn't just turn to dust, would it?

Glad it's all working and better than ever Nic Just one thing I'm curious on.. the turbo cold side apparently disintegrating and going through your engine. Am I correct in thinking that the cold side of the Jap turbos is metal (not ceramic), and has to go through (over?) the valves in order to actually get into the engine? HTF did it not wreck the head then?
