  1. I`ve bought 4 cars off EBay now. Although i know people that buy blind, i always go and look to see what i`m bidding on as many people tell some little white lies. I bought a GTti from Southampton off EBay. The lad knew what it was and that it was worth a fair whack. But i knew i was still getting it cheap and made a quick £1800 on that. Its a good place to find things that you would not normally be able to get hold off. I collect Daihatsu brochures and through EBay have bought them from Finland, Oz, US, Japan, Europe. I picked up a UK Supra brochure the other day. You have to be careful but i love some of the rare items i`ve been able to pick up. Never be scared of asking lots of questions to be sure of what you`re buying.
  2. Dude, sent you a PM to thank you for your help but your box is full. Cheers Dave
  3. Can anyone recommend a good reliable bodyshop in the Brighton area? It`s not for me, it`s for my brother. He`s got a history of being ripped off by numerous garages down there and now drives it up to me to get it serviced. I gave his CRX a cambelt service and brake change a few weeks ago and he wants to get his front bumper resprayed but my sprayman up here couldn`t get him fitted in, so any recommendations and where they are or a contact would be great so i can pass it on and get him out of my hair. Cheers
  4. Mine has the small patch of rust at the bottom of the hatch glass. I`ve seen a couple like that but i`ve never seen rust anywhere else on any car i`ve looked at.
  5. The cheapest quote i could find was £1230 with CIS. They were the cheapest by far. I resisted getting a quote from elephant.co.uk as i`ve heard that they`ll do anything to get out of paying out but my brother persuaded me to try them. Got a quote of £729 fully comp. elephant it is then.
  6. Thanks guys. Don`t suppose you know which wire it would be for RPM or how i would find it as i don`t know how i would find that one.
  7. Have the above turbo timer and have just purchased the correct harness to fit. I`ll be able to find where to plug it near the ignition but being an idiot with electrics does anyone know if the parking brake has to be wired into it? There is a brown and purple wire coming off the harness which appears to be optional? and as i read it, one goes to the handbrake and one goes to the back of the speedo? Do i need these two wires wiring in? on my 94 J-Spec TT6? Any help very gratefully received.
  8. My rocker cover on my GTti is powder coated blue. Serious problem on that car is the high under bonnet temperature and my rocker cover has been fine and has not tainted or anything. The only problems with wheels is that eventually they start to bubble up from underneath. When they`re painted you`d just blast them and repaint. Once something has been powder coated its a nightmare to blast off again. I gave up and got another set of wheels.

  10. Jason, have you got any pics of it fitted to your car? Whereabouts in Lincolnshire are you?
  11. If so, where did you get it from and most importantly, how much? Got a feeling it`ll be way too much for me. I have Veilside rear spats and the car has 19" wheels and lowered but the front bumper lets it down. It may look o.k with the Trust underbumper though?
  12. I have those wheels but the cars been dropped 40mm so i`ve been told. I`d have preferred standard height suspension i think.
  13. I`m an engineer by trade and all i`ll say is that you have to use your common sense. Over torquing can be as much a danger as under torquing in certain situations. If you over tighten a bolt you can stretch it and weaken it and leave it prone to give out. You`ll obviously not torque up a cambelt cover but you will your head. As well as just torquing it to the correct figure there is also the order in which to torque the bolts and sometimes in stages as well. Gotta look at the big picture. Norbar are excellent wrenches but for home a Britool would suffice. I have a Kamasa one at home but when checked against a calibrated unit it was a mile out. Crap. I use a Snap-On one now. Does the job, at a price. The more you pay the better you get with torque wrenches. I think they did a test in Practical Classics a while back so that might be worth looking in to.
  14. Where should the switch be? because near my TC button there is a fog light switch that has been wired in but whether it was previously a blank or another switch i don`t know.
  15. Thanks, i`ll have a look soon and see what`s there.
  16. Anyone give me advice on the correct pressures? The biggest wheels i`ve had previously were 15" so i haven`t the faintest what i should be banging in?
  17. I had a look under my car today and noticed a frame tucked into the front bumper. It has hinged levers, 2 on the outer extremities of the frame and 2 inboard. It has bits of black broken plastic attached to it. I was wondering if this is the remnants of an active spoiler although there is no switch in the cabin anywhere for it, i don`t think. Thoughts?
  18. How much would i expect to pay for RLTC?
  19. My brothers a copper and he tells me that under a new law, Section 59 i think he said, that if you are driving in an inconsiderate manner, i.e loud exhaust, loud stereo, driving like a wanker, etc in a residential area then you can be warned. After the first warning they have the power to seize your vehicle. He says its extreme but they have done it in Brighton where he lives as it is adhered to in built up areas. He says that on your first warning though that they have to explain the warning correctly for it to be valid. If the copper just says " i hope you`ll have that sorted next time i come across you" then he can`t do jack next time he does. He thinks it may come under another section where you can get a fixed penalty but he says he`s not sure.
  20. I won`t be happy if my turbo`s ever go as it costs all my money each month to pay the massive loan i had to take out to buy one of these cars. My Daihatsu is bad enough, the roller bearing hybrid i bought for that cost me £1200 so i hate to imagine what it would cost for a Supra!
  21. If this happenend to mine, i`d want to kill the first person i saw. I don`t have a garage at my house and my car would have to sit in the street. But every night i drive it 3 miles to the next village and lock it in an alarmed warehouse. I daren`t leave in our street so i go through that hassle every evening. But it ensures my car stays unmolested by other than my own hands. I think the only way to sort the scratches out is to respray the panels. Thats when you want to be fully comp with no claims protection.
  22. Has anyone ever removed the clock? I`ve tried prising it out but i`m going to damage the dash so i think i need to get behind it somehow. It doesn`t work so i need to get it out and have it repaired. Any help much appreciated.
