  1. I have some Continental SportContact`s on mine and they are bloody awful in the wet. Well scary. Avoid.
  2. Just saying that`s the way i`d see it, UK built. But no matter where you go or who you see the car has history and you can`t change that. My father-in-laws F2 car was driven by Graham Hill at one point. When people see it they say "That`s the car that Graham Hill drove" not "That`s the car that Ronald ****" drove. History. No matter what is done to that Supra most people will always see it as stillways car. Sad really seeing as these lads will end up rebuilding it.
  3. A shell`s a shell and a roll cage is a rollcage. The bit that makes it go that well is the engine side of things. So if you`re rebuilding the engine and swapping the gearbox id say you`ve wiped the slate clean and i`d see it as a UK built car but it`ll always have the history of it originally being Japanese built.
  4. Thankyou for that, very kind. Sexy looking brace and looks very strong as well, may be worth the extra money. Decisions, desicions.
  5. Does anyone have a TRD front strut brace fitted to their car? I just wanted to see a photo of one fitted to a Supra. I think a Cusco one is probably in order seeing as they are half the price of a TRD.
  6. Have you checked your exhaust? My mates 205 Gti was knocking and after a long search it turned out to be the exhaust banging the bodywork as the rubber hangers were perished and letting it move too much. Just an idea.
  7. Not sure yet about Supras but i`d double check with someone about oil temp as that may be fine because you could do more harm by having your oil too cool.
  8. Sorry guys, i don`t know who you`re going on about but you`ve certainly got me worried now. Could someone PM me who it is so i can avoid them like the plague as i haven`t been around here long enough to have picked up on this side of things yet.
  9. I`ve not seen one out of a Supra but i`ve had a couple go on my Daihatsu`s. All i did was to have them recored like you would a radiator. Cost me £30 a throw but they aren`t that big. Also peace of mind as you never know what you`re getting with a secondhand unit. If you do it yourself then make sure you use distilled water mixed with your anti-freeze as this will ensure you should never have to do it again within the next few years.
  10. If it`s not smoking all the time and only on start up and under load then it sounds more like valve stem seals.
  11. 94 L with 85,000 miles. So long as your car is set to run on UK fuel then it should run forever. Mine`s just run in. 6 cylinder and Japanese? She`s for life! so long as you look after her.
  12. Mine was doing 9mpg on a long run which was scary. But then it went into Chris Wilson for a thorough going through and it is now returning about 18 or 19 mpg with just general driving and giving it some now and then. Mine`s a J-Spec TT6 with Nur Spec, Apexi ind. and FCD running 1.2 bar.
  13. Does anyone know if there is an off the shelf braided brake line kit for the Supra? If so, who makes it?, who stocks it and how much?
  14. I`ve been going to Quarry Bodyworks for a few years now. It`s in Waddington quarry just before the crossroads. A bloke called Tony. Looks dodgy but i`ve had 3 cars and numerous body parts sprayed there and its always a good finish and a good price. I`ve had a couple of small problems but he`s always sorted it out with no argument. For the price charged it is a very good finish.
  15. Mine is "borrowed" from work also. It`s hard to get hold off even from there as it is so expensive.
  16. Yes, it`s sandpaper but so fine it feels like cloth. Excellent for polishing items but very expensive.
  17. I normally use compressed air to blow pistons out but i have been known to use a grease gun. To clean the pistons, stick them in a lathe and the best stuff to use is Micromesh. So long as the pistons aren`t corroded they`ll come up like brand new this way. Minimal effort as well.
  18. My dream car has always been a Supra. I`ve known for years exactly what i wanted. Black, 6 speed manual with leather. I`m not exactly loaded and it will be years before i could afford one, but i had a bit of a near death experience and my outlook on life has completely changed so got as much money as the bank would give me and took the plunge. I`ve always really wanted a UK but the money wouldn`t stretch, so J-Spec TT6. The only thing i didn`t get was the leather. Oh well. Good job it goes like a train so who`s worried what you`re sat on.
  19. It was this year, yes. He didn`t go round the track, i think the car you`ll be thinking off was a Toyota Starlet Turbo. It absoloutley ripped around the track. We`ve got a stand at The Pod on the 10th and a few will be going up the strip i believe. I`m hoping to make it as well in my Supra and do a run.
  20. There are 2 or 3 with 200bhp kicking about. In Japan they`ve had nearly 250bhp out of them but they only last about 2 race meets. They are reliable up to 200. At Trax a mildly modded one (around 130 to 140bhp) did a 6.6sec 0-60 run! Not even got an LSD fitted.
  21. Over the space of nearly 9 years i`ve spent 12k on my Daihatsu. But i`ll never sell it because i love it to bits, plus i want to finish it as over 200bhp out of a 1litre three cylinder would be something special! Told my new wife that the Supra will only be staying 6 months so as to get it out of my system, but after driving it over the space of this week i don`t think its going anywhere in 6 months!
  22. I`m happy with what i`ve got. FCD, Nur Spec, Apexi induction, nice wheels, lowered, black, manual. The only thing i would like when i save up is to de-cat. If i win the lottery i`ll get the front seats recovered as the drivers seat is starting to go.
  23. I like these rims, i think they`d look the dogs on a Supra:
  24. Insurance kicked in on Monday and picked her up from service on Monday so was looking forward to driving my TT6. Got about two miles and hit something in the road which shredded a rear tyre. I can`t really afford one of these cars so when i bought it i was looking for one with newish tyres on. When i bought mine it had just had a new set of Continental Sport Contact2. So when one got wrecked i was absoloutley gutted. I thought the rim was done as well but i`ve had it checked and it`s o.k. Was going to leave the car off the road for a while till i saved up but today had a new tyre fitted as i think i got it at a brilliant price. A Conti in 265/30/19 for £175 fitted, valve and balance. Skint but happy. Just took the car out for a 60 mile run through the Wolds. Bloody love it. I`m just paranoid now and stare at the road looking for things to avoid.
  25. After some research on the forum, i decided to take my recently acquired TT6 to Chris Wilson for a cambelt change and for the repair of lots of niggly problems. Just wanted to voice how impressed i was with the service, value for money and all the free advice i`ve been getting before and after. Most impressed with my new fuel economy that has returned after some of the faults were rectified. Must have been very thorough to have found some of the problems that surfaced. Thanks a million Chris. Top bloke.
