Is the Supra's autobox the best in the world
dangerous brain replied to FaithStalker's topic in Supra Chat
I have an N/A auto and a recently aquired an omega 3.0 v6 auto and there is just no comparison. The omega has a better gearstick with a more user freindly sports button on the top of it but thats where the positives end. It cannot be forced into manual mode so extracting that last up to the limiter few hundred RPM is not happening, the kick down you may as well send a postcard to the engine as that would be quicker. When it does kick down its as subtle as kick in the arse! then it changes back up seemingly before the engine gets going. This is all nitpicking really though as I feel I am spoiled having a supra auto that really is the dogs balls! Its the best of both worlds: lazy as shit when you just cant be arsed changing your own gears and really responsive with first second and third manually selectable, It also changes a hell of a lot quicker than I could on the clutch lol. -
the pics r probably comin on in installments a bit like your round buying lol !!!!! Now you've coughed up perhaps it will work????
-
Ok mine is a measley N/A but tesco's seem to be very good on soops especially the jspecs. Mine rolls in at a cool £450 plus £50 for protected no claims. Consider a UK auto as it is the best auto box on the market. There is a thread somewhere on here where a guy has yet to beat his 1/4 mile in his manual that he set in his previous auto! The box is effectively clutchless manual in first second and third when you podge the manual button. Also considering your penchant for blowing cars up perhaps an auto would live longer LOL! Seriously though the auto box on soops is the smoothest changing box on the planet. I recently test drove a UK auto TT with 60k on the clock full toyota service history priced at 8 grand OK it was white which is why I didnt buy it but they are out there.

Hey upstart nova kid not only did I keep up I turned off at ringwood only to find the spur road blocked by the police after an accident (hope it wasn't one of ours on their way home) Burned back down the dual carriage way and I beleive I actually passed your ass albeit up the inside lol. Great meet all, again shame the car park was so busy but at least we got lucky with the weather. I reckon if half the crew hadn't taken off for japspeed the ones that turned up later on wouldn't have fit in. Major laff @ the celica gettin clamped I reckon the guy probably went round trying to get a clamp on our cars but couldn't cos our wheels were 2 big so he picked on a ickle celica instead the bully lol. Were some awesome motors there and the mrs has said she quite liked the daddied up black RX7 so who knows!!! The most amazing moment I reckon was when we left after the pub and at one point on the dual carriageway out of soton the only car type I could see both in front and behind in both lanes were supra's which look ultra cool at night with lights on. It was like summat out of gran turismo. Apologies to OXY after almost performing a doughnut right next to ya exiting a roundabout in soton trying to follow timwildmans line off the damn rbout oooopsy. Cool meet all roll on the next one. -

Depends on where you are coming from mate. If you are coming along the coast road then its in southampton and there are links to a map further up the topic which I am guessin that they will put on here again but for now here is a link that might help http://www.lee-mawby.net/mkivsupranet.htm Or if you are coming along the m25/m3 then people are meeting in various locations find someone near you and pm them. Jope that helps -

Down the M4 onto the A34 @ Chieveley follow that down to M3 and pick up the lads from the Winchester services at that junction, its only about 3-5 miles to that junction. If you sit in tesco's garage get them to text you when they set off from Winchester services by the time you get onto the M3 through the r-bout lights you wont have to drive too slow for them to catch you. -
South East Meet- 11th January 2004- 2PM
dangerous brain replied to Supragal's topic in National Events
That will be just before winchester but don't get your fuel there its mega expensive. The next junction along where the A34 comes on has a big tesco's with a garage at it use that instead. Its got a hugely long re-entry slip road with two lanes as well- ideal for burning each other up on (not that I advocate that sort of thing lol). -
Well that'll do for me as at the mo I got no fog lights
-
Ah so the light only comes on when you brake with the fogs on? Thats acceptable. Far better than on all the time which is so so annoying. The reason that a lot of peoples dont come on is that when they do the cheapy conversion some leccies take the bulb out of the warning light but I prefer to keep my warning light so I dont drive around with faulty brake lights.
-
Cool I'll give it a go if it dont work then all i lose is the price of a couple of relays which I'm assuming I can get easily enough.
-
An I am full of cash like that lol

this thread is starting to answer a question I was gonna ask. What is the best way of extracting reasonable power from a standard N/A supra? Mine like the ones above is an aero in a colour I like ie red and having found the means to get it leathered am looking for performance enhancements to push the same power as the uk turbo model without having to service the thing every day and replace the engine once a month!! lol I hear a lot of stuff being bandied about so I will ask what gain you might expect to get and what the price and disadvantages are of each. I am techno buffoon so English answers of a condescending manner are definitely required. Supercharging seems like a good idea on paper turbo conversion job now on sale in one of them links for $4250 Nitrous So far I have been considering the nitrous approach but really don't know where to start looking at getting it done. Reading quotes of ridiculous shots of nos whets the old appetite and seems cheap but there must be a drawback cos there rnt any free lunches available. Answers on a postcard if you please
