  1. that was a great buy - a bargain
  2. Unfortunately, mine went with the black car today - sorry Dave
  3. Call me a silly old fool (and many have) but surely this would have been much better directed to PHR rather than posted in the technical section?

Bugger off! Actually, it was a call to a London number so not expensive - especially on my talk plan of £19 per month all inclusive!

It was this one here. OK, so you can undoubtedly get a better quality for scanning etc but for the money it seems ideal.

Very acceptable my friend. I just did a copy and print of my passport and it was fine.
  7. That is a very nice hood. If I had a Supra, that would be very tempting

Thank you old fruit. I am just downloading the driver direct from the Lexmark site that is supposed to me for XP, 2000 etc. Lets see if that does the trick eh?
  12. I have just bought a Lexmark 1200 series all in one printer / scanner / copier. I have tried to install the software but I am getting the following error: C:\windows\system32\autoexec.NT The system file os not suitable for running MSdos or Windows applications. I then sent an error report to Microsoft and they suggested (via a web page) I do the following: This problem occurs when Windows XP cannot access a file because of a problem with the hard disk that the file is stored on or with the drivers for a storage medium. When this problem occurs, Windows XP closes the program. Back to the top Back to the top WORKAROUND To work around this problem, follow these steps: 1. Identify the file that cannot be opened. To identify the file, follow these steps: a. Click Start, click Run, type EVENTVWR, and then click OK. b. In Event Viewer, click Application log. c. Click the Source column heading to sort the list by source and to list all the Application Error sources at the top of the list. d. Search for an event with a source of Application Error and an event ID of 1005. e. Double-click this event. f. The file that cannot be opened will be listed in the Description box. Note the file name, and then close Event Properties. 2. Try to open the file again. The problem may have been temporary and may not occur when the program runs again. 3. If you cannot open the file, verify and repair the hard disk file system with the Chkdsk.exe program. Follow these steps: a. Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK. b. Type chkdsk /f, and then press ENTER. You are prompted to schedule Chkdsk to run when the computer restarts. c. Press Y. d. Restart the computer. What can you folks recommend?
  13. Sounds like you are on your own trying to sell your car

    Silly - but amusing

LOL...yep, been there a few times
  16. An English lady wishing to stay in a small German village in the mountains and not knowing any German, wrote to the local School Master to enquire whether there was a W.C attached to the cottage in which she was to stay. The teacher did not know this abbreviation and consulted the local Pastor who also knew little English. Together they decided that the lady must be a devout churchgoer and wished to know the situation of the nearest Westleyan Chapel, and therefore sent her the following reply…… Dear Ladyship, The W.C is situated about 7 miles from your lodging in the centre of a pine forest amid lovely scenery and is open Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is unfortunate if you are in the habit of going regularly, but you will be pleased to know that most people take their lunch and make a day of it. There are a great many visitors in the summer and I advise you to get there early. There are about 80 seats but should you be late there is plenty of standing room. I should particularly advise you to go on Thursday when there is an organ accompaniment. A bell is rung before each sitting. Hymn sheets are to be found hanging on the door. Both sides are to be used - please hang them up again when you have finished. My wife and I have been unable to go for six months, which has pained us greatly. I should be pleased to reserve you a good seat and will accompany you myself if you wish. Yours in anticipation……
  17. Much horse grassy arse.
  18. I agree with my learned friend - that is one very nice motor vehicle.
  19. I don't think they are available any more old fruit. And they are like rocking horse shit to find second hand.
