I know what you mean. I am going to speak to the little cherubs (19 and 15 ) and see what they have in mind to use them for. I can then come back to you clever folks and see what you then recommend.

I am bit concerned that if I buy off Ebay, I will end up buying a crock of shit as my knowledge is so limited. Do you mean your friend of a friend can get new ones cheap(ish)?

Thanks for the help guys - much appreciated. I think I will end up looking at new ones for them as knowing my luck, after buying a screen, the damn thing will go kaput anyway! So, any recommendations on a laptop? I looked at the site shown earlier but my problem is, I am a technical numpty and wouldn't know a hard drive from a lump of cheese

Both my sons have managed to damage the screens of their laptops. they are quite old machines and I was wondering if it would be worth trying to source screens for them and if so, where from. The laptops are - Toshiba SP6100 and S1800. Failing that, can anyone recommend a budget priced laptop (x2) as a possible Christmas present for them both? They rarely play games on them and use them for interwebnet surfing (downloads etc), homework and other teenage crap!

Apparently, if the update shows it was the others drivers fault, then a claim can be made against him and his insurance.
