  1. The door is a little slimmer, but if it doesn't fit through the door with some space to spare, I've got no chance of getting out lol. Itd be great if you could find your old measurements, cheers
  2. Hi everyone. Looking to buy my first supra. Got the cash, actually found one I want, and am in talks with the owner, but it has occurred to me that my garage is very small and the supra is not... I could get in and out of my evo ok, but it was pretty tight and according to Google, the supra is an inch wider, but also appears to have longer doors which won't help. My garage is 2.45m across, is anyone else dealing with a space that tight? Cheers Btw I'm pretty slim and nimble
  3. Budget upped, 23k available for the right car.
  4. The man knows his stuff ^ "They use abs which this one can use but it need a Dakota digital box to run it. The stereo has gps speedo though". That's what he said when I asked about it. No receipts for the work though as the previous owner done it apparently.
  5. I'll certainly keep the car for a few years at least. And I'll do all my homework on the other mods that got it to 600. Just I know that conversions will never be as desirable as factory manuals, but I was wondering how much less desirable they are, and that the m3 box was a suitable substitute for the v160. Sounds like it might be worth a look though, and the guy is only an hour from me
  6. Just speaking to the guy at the moment. Just trying to figure out if i should avoid a auto to manual conversation in the first place, or if it's ok if done right. From what I've read, this isn't a bad choice of box to switch to though.
  7. Hi everyone. New to supras, very New, as in I don't have one yet, but I'm working on that. I've seen a supra I like but the guy says he opted to go for the 420 conversion rather than stick to v160 or 161 due to availability and cost. That raises a few questions. Firstly, I'm guessing it's a bad thing if it was auto or tiptronic converted to manual? Maybe not to function but to price? And also is the 420 box even any good? He says it can take 800bhp no worries. The car looks awesome, running over 600, but I'm definitely keeping my head running the show and not my heart. Thanks
  8. I messaged about the white one, he said he already had a very keen buyer coming to look. Didn't hear from him again. I think you might be right about the run around though. I walk to work so that isn't an issue, but having no car isn't ideal!
  9. Hi everyone. I've literally just today sold my evo ix due to rust starting, and me fancying a change. There's not really anything that grabs me other than a Supra, so here I am.... Budget of 20k or so, maybe a bit more for the right one. Not too fussed if single or TT, my evo was single obviously and done just fine at 1.8bar, although it was only a 2L so maybe that kept the lag to a minimum? Not too sure how that would translate to 3L?..... Anyway, despite what some of you may say, it needs to be 6 speed please. There's plenty of time for flappy paddle or tiptronic when I'm a bit older and lazier ;-) I know my budget is tight and I'm looking for something very sought after, but if anyone can help, I'm all ears. Thanks
  10. Oh haha. Like you said, who reads the t's and c's ;-)
  11. Haha it's a fair point. Just delivered the evo, so I am officially car-less. Another 6 speed up in high Wycombe on eBay. 505bhp apparently. Numbers like that grab my attention but I do not want to start messing with dodgy sellers
  12. Ok mate, I can spare a tenner. Good price imo. Might be worth the mods changing the message, I thought it would be due to lack of posts to be honest. 13. Hi. The title says it all really. I'm a new user and it won't let me reply to pms?? Thanks
  14. The big issue here is my mate has a white supra... with black wheels.... we'll look like a right couple of plums driving around in those together lol
  15. I saw that earlier. You think I should make a move on it? I wasn't sure tbh. Had a small bit of damage near the front light. Put me off a bit
  16. Thanks for the links. I'm always cautious when buying a car, but even more so when it costs this much. Good to know specifically what to look out for though. Hopefully i find something soon enough. If you see or hear or anything, the feel free to let me know. I like to learn everything i can when I own a car, i actually mapped my evo with no previous experience, and it didnt go bang lol might not attempt that with a supra this expensive, but I look forward to learning what i can
  17. Thanks for the replies. Didn't even know I got any as I didn't receive any emails telling me?? Everything has gone to plan, evo wise. Took deposit this week, deliver on Saturday, and I also sold my 2 motorbikes i don't use. Along with a little help from the bank, this has got me 21k to spend. I've toyed with the idea of R32 GTRs, 3000gt's, even a big spec evo or Scooby, but I'm back to supras. Pretty firm on the no auto though. I've got a friend who's planning on switching his tiptronic to manual. Seen one on eBay for 23k, blue 580bhp with NOS apparently. Sent the guy a message. Will see if he replies. As of next weekend I'm good to go though, so hopefully i won't be car-less for long
  18. Hi everyone. Its all been a bit sudden, but I'm toying with the idea of trying to get a MK4. I've currently got an evo 9 which is awesome fun, but I've noticed that rust is setting in, and it needs more attention than I can give it really. Its booked in for a health check next weekend and will be sold shortly after. At 32 im not getting any younger, and as the only 2 real performance cars I've owned were both evos, i think it's time to move on. I've always liked supras (Who hasn't), and can't think of anything else I would want that I can afford tbh. An R34 gtr would be the stereotypical dream, but I'd have to double my budget for one of them, and the supra is a close 2nd anyway :-) Anyway, I've got a few questions and figured you guys could probably answer them. Firstly, I think I'm going to have roughly 18k to spend. Is that enough to get me a nice one? I've had a quick look on ebay and piston heads, but a lot of them are a bit more than that, or are evil auto which isn't an option. I'd want the 6 speed tbh. Also what about importing? Is that a good way to go? After the rusty evo, importing and starting fresh doesn't sound bad. Next is insurance. I've got 2 yr NCB, 32 years young but a nice total loss 2 years ago. My evo insurance is 700 fully comp, 400bhp, all mods declared. Would going rwd screw me? And lastly, reliability? My friend has a supra and I've never known him to have any issues other than his throttle body going limp mode occasionally, but generally they're pretty solid as far as I know? I'm not skint but I'm not rich either, and want to spend my money on upgrades rather than repairs ;-) Any advice appreciated, just putting the feelers out there to see if this is actually achievable. Thanks
