Got the cobra fitted. Does exactly what it says on the tin. All doors, boot, bonnet and A-pillars have sensors. Good bloke. Cheers for the recommendation
-
Title says it all really. Anyone got the front arch liners for sale? Cheers
-
I do still need my clocks switching to mph, plus I'm getting new alloys and tyres all around, so I've asked Paul what's the best he can do me for all of the above with the BPU. Hopefully he's not too far away from what I can squeeze to, and then I'll get him to do the lot for ease and also a nice initial receipt for my fresh import. If not I'll have to think of the best way to tackle it all. Thanks for the advice though, at least now I know I've got options
-
Ok, thanks for the advice. Looks like I'm going back on what I said when I bought the car, and am going to work on it myself. Really need to save some money right now where possible
-
Hi everyone. Looking to BPU my car. Ive had a quote off whifbitz which was reasonably priced, but the Labour is going to kill me with the other bits i want done. I'm no stranger to a spanner, is doing the BPU myself safe and simple enough? I've already got a FMIC fitted , so it'll just be plugs, fuel pump, decats, restrictor ring and FCD I think. It's more the safety I'm worried about, not actually fitting the stuff. Also whifbitz recommend a 1bar restrictor ring and use a boost controller to crank it to 1.2, is just using 1.2 restrictor ring not safe? Any info, good people to buy parts off of, or general advice on it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Which stereo insert/DIN are people using?

I'll have a look, cheers -
Hi everyone. Sorry for the many threads. New car, you know how it is. The car has no stereo in it at the moment, so I'm thinking of getting a single layer stereo rather than double, and hoping to get a row of gauges on the other slot. Does anyone make this sort of insert? Ive seen the defi single din but that's top dollar, and id like to have boost, oil temp and oil pressure really which I don't think the defi is. Cheers

Picked up the new supra. Need a trustworthy garage haha

Yeah, it was fuel cut. I thought it might have had clutch slip too, but watched the Speedo and the revs were just going up and down roughly 500rpm, but it would barely go past 4k. In lower gears around town it was flying when he put his foot down. If i only went half throttle I could build speed fine which further points towards fuel cut. It's only at WOT it won't play ball. Plus the oem gauge was right off the top, as I guess it's calibrated to .8 bar or whatever -

Hi everyone. Picked up the new supra today. Took another test drive around town, pulls fine, second turbo kicks in nicely as it should. All good. Pay the man and start the journey home... All fine.... Get on the motorway, foot down, Jesus Christ that a big misfire once the 2nd turbo kicks in in the high gears..... remember reading about a fuel cut defender being needed for bpu, and it feels a lot like when my evo was getting fuel cut. Pretty sure that's where we are. I was going to get it a health check anyway but now I'll get them to sort this too. I live in between Stevenage and Cambridge in Herts, anywhere around here know their stuff? I spoke to the bloke who seemed none the wiser. I asked of he'd had a good thrash in it rather than just around town, which he said he hasn't. But that's neither here nor there. It is what it Is, we need solutions not problems. Cheers -
Corr, the bill keeps on climbing lol he said he can do one for 400 quid, alarm and immob. Will go for that I think
-
What did it cost you roughly?
-
Ok, I'll have a look into it. Cheers
-
You get a certificate and all that? I guess insurers don't just take a receipt for the alarm as proof? Haha
-
Hi everyone. Going to pick up a fresh import on sat. For those who have followed my never ending search, it's the one I viewed on Saturday. Mint underside, drives nice, but the interior needs work. Anyway, it's got no alarm and my insurer says I need one. Any recommendations please? Also should I fit it myself or is it tougher than fitting gauges for example, and I should get a professional to do it? Does it need to be signed off anyway so I can't even do it myself? Thanks

Going to view a car at high wycombe at 10.30, anyone free??

I've got a few but nothing worth uploading to imgur and then sharing here lol. Coming from an evo, rust is my biggest enemy, and I saw nothing worrying. I now see what people meant when they said the supposed 40k supra I was looking at looked aged.... Bumper colour looked almost identical if not identical. Bit of a gap underneath the lights, maybe a few mil, but the bumper was aftermarket so it's not surprising. I lifted the carpet in the boot, stuck my head in every crevice possible, it was good. If the arch didn't rub and the interior wasn't full of old gauge marks, I would have taken it. Maybe someone will find it's a wrongen and I'll have to eat my words, but it seemed good to me. -

I took this myself. If that isn't clean then I'm not sure what is. Other than what I've said, it was spotless. I'm not buying it so not defending it, but what do you expect to see? -

I got my head under the rear end, it was immaculate. Phoned the importer who remembered it and said it is what it seems. Bodywork was flawless apart from where the rear wheels catch the arches when you go up a steep hill, because it's insanely hilly where he is. Unfortunately it's taken some of the paint off the top of one arch right on the inside. Also 2 patches of rust by the battery tray, but they're so concentrated im pretty sure it's from a battery leak at some point. The dash has had gauges removed though which has left it in a bit of a mess, but not too bad in the grand scheme of things. All in all it seems cracking to a noob like me, but because it would empty my bank i don't want to buy a car that needs money spent on it. Id possibly respray the rear quarter to keep it perfect once the suspension was adjusted. Looks awesome tbh, but I'm no expert -
Underside shots of the supra im buying. Opinions please

Only real rust on it. Right by the battery. Worrying or easily sorted and job done? I'm thinking maybe I should take it. Adjustable suspension so I can raise the rear. It's only rubbing because he lives somewhere really hilly. Then sort the arch where the wheel touched, and it's just the dodgy dash. Any opinions more than welcome!! -

Well the evo was 2l, so 1.8 is comparable to 1.2 in the supra I guess, but let's just say I like the boost to come in strong Yeah that's not a bad idea. He's unsure at the moment, I'll send him a little message to let him know i didn't grab the other one. Do Toyota still sell all the dash pieces? -

90% of the car was amazing. Under side was immaculate, looked in the boot, under the bonnet, down the bay, everywhere. Only rust was on the occasional jubilee clip or something like that, and by the battery tray there were a couple of patches of rust that would need treating. I'm going to say from an acid spill because it was so concentrated to one area. Bodywork was faultless in general. Interior left a lot to be desired. Carpets etc were fine but gauges etc being removed had scuffed up the main dash area. The passenger airbag cover had some small holes, the centre console was a bit marked, and an aftermarket steering wheel had some plugs exposed at the base of the wheel, not the column. Also the tray bit underneath was dodgy and hit my legs. There was some tape... Worst part for me was the rear wheel rubbing when turning with any pace. I checked the arches, one was ok, one had lost some paint and had the first signs of rust. Not rot, just discoloration around the edge of the flakey area. Let's say an inch long as the top of the arch. For me that means potentially a rear quarter needs painting, plus new wheels or suspension if the current suspension can't be raised. After purchase price and underseal, the prospect of sorting wheels/suspension and an arch is too much I think. I earn a reasonable amount but the pricetag is getting bigger and bigger. What are people's views? I'll upload some pics, but my phone died by arch pic time, so I don't have that one. You know what I mean though. E2A One more thing. What's up with those sequential turbos lol at first I was thinking "man this thing needs a remap or something" but then at 4k ish I guess the 2nd turbo cones into play and we we're off. I mapped my evo so it was coming in at 2500 and hitting 1.8 bar at 3500. One minute, nothing, the next you're pinned. That's how boost should be imo lol -

I saw that dodgy colour match picture but he sent me a video and it looks fine. I'll be very thorough around the front end though. I'll be sure to check around the doors too. Thanks -

Well that's what I'm thinking. It's hardly an old dog. I've seen the red one on eBay for 17500. Wouldn't even waste my time with that, but a clearly very clean fresh import. Other than a high price, what could they do to it?? -

I've heard stories mate, but I'm just after a set of eyes to look at a fresh import. It's hardly been around the block 10 times. But thanks for the concern
