if that seems low for you for BPU supra, look at y dyno thread: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?324526-320-WHP-single-6-speed-on-0-9-bar it's 320 WHP on 0.9 bar with a friggin' single turbo :|

My JDM supra is like that. it came with a single turbo garret ta45/hks t04s hybrid. with stock fueling/stock ecu :/ though it does have additional injectors in the intake (3 to be precise, 550c densos, which would ideally translate to about 710cc per cylinder). thing is, at 0.9 bar, the car makes 320 at the wheels on mustang dyno. didn't get the chance to see what it did on another "mode" set on HKS EVC - 1.3 bar as additional injectors dumped fuel and there was problem with ignition (faulty spark plugs). as for 4000rpm thing, the turbo starts spooling at around that point...

Went to a local tuner who has a VERY conservative Mustang Dyno to check what the car can do as it came from japan. turned out, HKS V pro "promised" in the auction sheet wasn't to be found anywhere on the car. It basically runs on stock ecu with HKS "alphabet soup". Engine Type - Single Engine Spec - Stock J-spec with 3 additional 550cc injectors in the intake Turbo - garret ta45 with t04s turbine and small compressor wheel (not sure which) Fuel Used - Lukoil 98 Exhaust - some narrowish downpipe (will be soon changed to a 4" one) with ab-flug 4 inch cat-back exhaust. Transmission - v160 ECU - Stock with HKS AIC/EVC (auction said V pro. Alas, it turned out to be LIE) Mapped By - Dunno. stock ecu should not be "mappable?" Dyno Used - Mustang Dyno. Power figure - 320 WHP Torque figure - (don't remember, will add when the guy at the shop sends me the printout) Boost Pressure - 0.9 Bar Will upload my dyno graph as soon as the tuner sends it to me. will just upload YouTube vid for the run for now: [video=youtube;xK-iMo1bQpQ] your thoughts? the turbo turned out smaller than I thought, but the tuner said we could easily get some 500 horses at the wheels, though I would need: new injectors instead of stock 440c ones with fuel rail; a standalone or at least a piggyback; New Downpipe. will think about this, but it will come at about 2000$ which is kinda high-ish at the moment... also want to know if the setup as is can be used till I save up some money Also tried to run the car on 1.3 bar boost with additional injectors turned on. Well, turned out my sparkplugs can't handle more fuel : it became VERY rich at about 4000 rpm. he said I should change to new spark plugs - 0.7-0.8mm iridiums from NGK (or something along the lines). what are your thoughts?

This is what mine does in neutral. not sure if it does the same when in gear and moving. should this be like it? is it normal for 1995 non vvti RZ?

Grinds 2nd gear, pops out of first gear (Supra RZ V160 6speed)

Usually, you can find everything in Dubai. I ordered some of the parts from there and asked the middleman about gearbox prices. the full new V160 costs about 9000USD which is 6000-ish pounds? also, he said that they could find a refurbished one in almost as new condition for half that price... don't know how import taxes in UK are, but yeah, might be worth looking into. May sound strange - importing Japanese car parts from Dubai, but it's much cheaper that way. I ordered two rear wheel bearings from NSK (which is as good as koyo, later being the OEM Toyota part maker) complete with seals and that strange wire clip thingy, hatch rubber stoppers and cushions, V160 rear oil seal, all for 165 USD total, which is 105 pounds and IIRC, it would be a bit more expensive over there in UK... -
well, you don't launch a 700HP supra with 285 wide street tires. you need something wider, or at least something with more grip. advan ad08 are pretty good, as well as toyo proxes r 888... better rubber should help. I have a HKS t04S single turbo supra, but it was set up for drifting as there are some 265 eco tires stretched over a 10.5 wheel on the rear (have to get some 285 wide ad08r-s). I get wheel speen in 3 gears on low boost and launching it is impossible. Anti-lag just makes it slip more slight slipping the clutch from about 5000 rpm seems the best way to launch mine - I get the quickest launch like this, but your case could be different...
-
well, the wing is bit too big imo and I have a veilside one on mine, so yeah...
-
needs a wing of some sort imo. definitely like the eyelidless look though
-
May be lot of causes but if you want less understeer do this: sticky tires upfront, less so on the back. You could also play wirh tire pressures and if you have adjustable suspension, you could also try that too. Mine was set up towards lots of oversteer - yokohama advan neova ad08 upfront and skinny eco tires on back 265. Lots of pressure in those too. Also, the rear dumpers are set to the stiffest position and I just can't imagine it understeering. Back gets loose even under slightly more accelerator pedal contact. This kind of setup is not for street, more like for drifting, but you could apply some of these principles to a lesser degree to make yours a bit more neutral
-
mmmm, veilside... excellent car. looks great. there'll be some people envious of your veilside goodness that might tell you to ditch the wing and the aero and go for a stock look. don't listen to them. they just can't handle the sexiness

There are some spots in places usually not treated by some, i.e. at the top of the hatch door, door sils, inside engine bay. The interior side is free of rust. The boot is very clean. A guy who inspected the car said it would be good to repaint the whole car if I wanted to get to all the rust spots or I could just paint the exterior and don't mind the smaller one's... But I have a bit of an OCD and I really like the idea of refreshing the shell I could change my mind if it isn't necessary really...

that's why I thought it would be a good and relatively inexpensive way to freshen up the body it's Georgian. We Georgians call it Kartuli though yep Soo, what do you guys think? anything I should know before doing it? or should I just drive the car to them these days, leave it there and hope for the best?
-
these are the guys who'd do this if I decided to proceed with this plan: https://www.facebook.com/CASgeorgia/videos/vb.241282502723771/392524434266243/?type=2&theater I hope this doesn't count as advertisement?

Yeah, it sounds very expensive, but these guys did the same thing on a Mercedes G55 and it cost the owner about 10000 GEL which is like 2500£. And let's not forget G55 is MUCH more cimplicated, with its chasis, frame and shitloada of electronics... so yeah. Perks of living in eastern european country Is it still expensive? How much would a job like that cost in the UK?

Hello there guys. I recently imported a single turbo white 6 speed with auction grade 4 and 73k kms on odometer. But it turns out, there are some minor rust issues on the body ( I would be surprised if it was clean really, I mean it is 20 years old). This car will almost be a daily, besides other 3. I don't plan on leaving it in a garage or anything like it, it will be used in rain and so on. So I've been thinking about getting it completely respraid. A shop here would tear it down to just bare shell and panels and repaint it. Is this a good idea? I mean the paintjob won't be original and blablabla, but there won't be any rust issues for foreseeable future. Besides, I'm planing on a much better veraion of white - pearl white rather that the dull white white it is now Also, do I need to keep in mind something specific when it comes to getting supras to bare shell? What are the potential problems? Thanks

Replacing LEaking additional Injector Fuel Hoses

Thanks once again I get the general idea of why it's a bad thing. Will take it down to the tuner and see what readinga he'll get. -
Replacing LEaking additional Injector Fuel Hoses

^ Haha, Fair enough Actually I was planning on getting the car to tuner here and sorting everything out but didn't really think additional injectors would be a bad thing. Live and learn I guess Also I already mentioned that if I'm not mistaken, the main injectors should also be aftermarket. In any case, I will have the car checked with people who know what they are doing and go from there. Thanks for the advise, highly appreciated -

How much would that cost? Is it really that bad ? dunno guys, it kinda works and what could go wrong? just looking for some scenarios -
Replacing LEaking additional Injector Fuel Hoses
nihontoman replied to nihontoman's topic in mkiv Technical
The thing is, main injectors also are aftermarket, but don't know what spec and/or brand... They are violet/red in color and don't look like stock ones Hard to say full spec, but it's HKS T04S (.84 ar) full exhaust, F con V Pro with all it's additional little controlers and such, Prostart Launch constrol (gotta love the flames ) aftermarket intercooler and oil coolers, multi plate clutch, Upgraded LSD, HKS coilovers (I think the oldschool hypermax RS), and some bits and bobs. Funny thing is, it came with some girly slippers, beauty saloon coupons and a lipstick which makes me believe it is a girls car :/ The power delivery isn't what you'd call smooth. It's dead u till 4000 rpm, well not dead but the turbo spools at this rpm and then all hell breaks loose the tire ans suspension setup (255 yokohama advan neova ad08 up front and stretched 265 yokohama eco somethings on the back, with VERY Stiff rear shocks) suggests that they might have used it for drifting, though I can't imagine drifting with this kinda sudden power delivery... -
So, I recently imported a Single Turbo Supra RZ from Japan and While the car Is excellent and really exceeded my expectations in just about everything, it came with some problems that needed some sorting out. Here I'll discus one of the most pressing issues I've had with it - Leaking, or should I say - spraying all over the place - fuel hoses that are connected with additional injectors that apparently just dump the fuel into the intake pipe (prior to throttle) for reasons unbeknownst to me... Problem was discovered after about 15 minutes, after I took the car out from the port terminal and fueled up at a nearby station. I decided to "pop da hood" to check what was going on and also to attach license plates. Glad I did that Because What I discovered was that the Fuel hose connected to the uppermost injector connected to the intake pipe was spraying fuel on everything. I really panicked. imagined my car bursting into flames and what not. Tried turning the ignition off - no dice, the turbo timer did it's job and kept the engine running along with the fuel pump. After about 3 seconds filled with dismay, I just put the handbrake on, put the car into gear and dumped the clutch. the engine stopped, but the fuel was still leaking for about a minute afterwards... I had a water bottle and juts tried to wash down the places in hopes it would make it that bit harder for the petrol to ignite on it's own just before it stopped, a passerby admiring my supra approached and seeing the situation, suggested help in replacing the damaged hose. Of course I was VERY glad. He turned out to be a mechanic, went somewhere and came back with a car filled with tools to help me. he replaced it but the fix was temporary. I was fearing the two left would also give up. Today I solved the problem - my friend, which you could say is one of the best mechanics here in my country (even though he's a lawyer by profession and isn't a professional mechanic) helped me with replacing the hoses. he had some leftover Gates branded fuel hose (from a Frankenstein Suzuki Vitara with a Gold 1.9TD engine swap), that we cut up in pieces (approx. 3 inches long) and he put them on in place of the existing (and probably already damaged) steel sheathed hoses. here's the pics I got: ^ Here You can see the hoses already changed to new Gates branded ones. the steel sheathed one is on top. this is after tightening them in place This got me thinking How many hoses would need Changing though and I'm kinda worried. Please feel free to ask anything or weigh in on the subject. Thanks

I dipped my wheels on a suzuki swift sport about half a year ago and start to really regret it. Not that easy to peel off really...
-
it will drink more, has three additional injectors straight into the intake pipe :| agree!
-
about the petrol - mine drank about 11-12 litres per 100km, with very spirited driving
-
congratz. I was also kinda skeptical about mine, my dad even more. but we drove it from the port and we both fell in love with this car. Kinda decided that I will leave this car in the family for foreseeable future
