  1. Finally! I got my baby! here's a pic: and some shocking stuff: ^ yeah these are the remnants of the HKS mushroom filter that was half ingested by the turbo :| should I be afraid? it's just a foam, right? Now I have this till I get a proper cone filter: Pantyhose to the rescue. Hey, I had to work with what I had at the moment (Just to be clear, I don't usually carry around women's pantyhose(s?), I just happened to think of the idea at the spot.) I'm not gonna drive this car around Until I get a proper filter. then I'll just take it for some overall inspection. One more thing - there's a triple injector setup straight into the intake pipe, right after the intercooler, until it goes to the ECCS thingy. turns out some fuel is sprayed into it. why? I don't know, maybe anti-lag? How did I know? well, one of the three lines just decided to give up when I fueled it up at the station and started the engine. I drove couple of meters and don't know why, but decided to "pop the hood" and I was greeted by a fantastic display of gasoline fountain, which got me really nervous. I imagined that it would catch on fire and my supra would be roasted :| I turned the ignition off, and who knew - there's a frigin' turbo timer somewhere in the car which decided that I needed to cool down my turbo I then had a genius idea to put it in gear and stop the engine by force. the fountain continued for about a minute, and I tried to dilute it with some bottled water I had just in case. well, the car didn't catch on fire will give some pics later
  2. Aaaand, I'm back, now as a full member? here's what happened so far regarding my car. it's still in the port. yep The reason is pretty hilarious and shows just how lucky I can be sometimes I told you all that the new ETA was May 7 and the ship did really arrive at the port on May 6, but at the same time, employees at the terminal responsible for the functioning of the whole port (about 700) decided to go on a strike. First thing that came to my mind isn't suitable for a public forum which even kids can see, but you get the idea I was even more pissed yesterday when I heard that the initial demand from the workers, which was raising the salaries by 14% was reduced to 5%. this wouldn't be a problem, however it is in this case because the port administration were suggesting them 6% rise in their salaries and these guys didn't accept that condition. You see where I'm going? basically, my car was held there for about 10 days because some incompetent bunch that doesn't know the basic principles of negotiation decided to go on a strike :| Good news is that the ship is already in the port and not raiding around and I should be able to go get my car either tomorrow, or the day after That's all I have to say as of now. Now excuse me while I get the most out of the 10 quid I just paid for the membership and set up my profile
  3. Yeah, that is definitely big. :| at least it is lightweight so maybe the people who designed it thought about functionality too?
  4. Yeah, it's a nice surprise indeed. There's only one problem though: You see, the plan is to go all the way to the port where the car will be discharged from the container ship and then drive it all the way back to home (about 350km). There's a mountain pass somewhere in the middle of the road. I have to decide which way I will go: 1) drive over the mountain pass and enjoy the twisty roads there (which are almost always vacant) 2) drive through the tunnel which is about 1.7km long IIRC and enjoy some windows down engine/turbo/wastegate sounds there decisions, decisions...
  5. Just found out that it will be here 10 days earlier than what I've originally anticipated! New ETA is May 7. Man is this a good feeling
  6. I bet the bracing still doesn't give as much rigidity as the hardtop does... yeah, still a lot gotta find the thread on the aerotop modification, sounds interesting
  7. wow, that's a lot to invest in a car... though a car like that deserves it anyway... a quick question though. it may come off as blasphemy, but bear with me - what if, one took a hardtop supra and then converted it to aero? has anyone tried this? is it possible?
  8. Thanks for the info. Will check at the Toyota dealership here...wonder how much they'll ask for it Will also ask this Keron guy too, he's something like a supra breaker if I understood correctly so should have some laying around As for the Ebay link, any thoughts on those guys? they are so cheap I could just get them and see for myself but if someone here tells me they're crap, I'll reconsider
  9. those look nice and well positioned. So if I understand correctly, I can get those from Toyota directly? are they still available?
  10. Well, yeah, they don't really look good...
  11. hmm, looking at the pictures, your pedals are the same that came with my Pajero Evolution. what's the reason you recommended against them? are they too big? Pajero was an auto so the size didn't really bother me on that one... that might actually be a good idea can you please post some pics? can't seem to find them on google. only thing that comes up is the black standard one... http://www.ebay.com/itm/FREE-SHIP-CARBON-FIBER-JDM-RACING-PEDALS-MT-TOYOTA-LEXUS-SCION-MAZDA-MITSUBISHI-/400908796277?fits=Make%3AToyota%7CModel%3ASupra&hash=item5d5806c175&vxp=mtr found this on ebay. does anyone have any experience with these?
  12. I'll quietly bump this until it gets lost into oblivion
  13. Hello guys, While my supra is still on the way from Japan, I've been thinking about getting a good ergonomic pedal set for it. I don't think the originals look good or are good enough for the type of heel-toeing I do - I don't really like when I have to twist my ankle too much because I have less control of throttle blipping that way. that being said, I also dislike when brake and accelerator pedals are too close. also dislike overly wide pedals - simply prefer slightly canted long slim accelerator pedal with shorter simple rectangle brake and clutch pedals... Considering the above, would like to know what aftermarket pedal set fits Supras in general and which are good for my needs? what do you guys have on your cars? any feedback appreciated
  14. Nice Evo wish mine looked like that do you absolutely have to have an aerotop? You should be able to find a good turbo 6 speed in japan without the aerotop...

    My new Supra!

congrats, does not look ricey. even the bit overcrowded bomex front bumper serves its purpose.
  16. The overall theme of the car calls for an oversized wing if you ask me. it doesn't really look out of place at least for me. now if you put that wing on an otherwise stock car, that would look strange and ridiculous. As it is now, I kinda see what they were going for - Good saturated orange contrasts well with the black wing and the size doesn't really subtract anything from the looks. might be too gaudy for some, but dunno... try and Photoshop a regular or TRD wing and see what comes out of it
  17. Yeah, that much for a bumper is pretty costly, but it is one of the best designs available so there's that maybe you could buy it from someone for a bit cheaper?
  18. yeah, looks really good. I'd enjoy it as is
  19. Someone took it out? you car just lost 25% of value
  20. haha, that was a good one Agree on the eyelids - supras don't need any eyelids. I think the headlights on these cars look fantastic as they are! You should definitely leave the double cheeseburger though adds so much character to the interior +1. sometimes veilside loos really good... and I think this case is no exception
  21. I think I found your car on the auction history: http://auc.carauction.ge/aj_3-szQk9HsssguYVK.htm And now that I look at it, the rear wing is indeed huge! but black on orange goes well together
  22. I could swear I wouldn't see that kind of car for that amount of money on sites like mobile . de :/ As for modifications, it's like that everywhere - you could put lot's of money in a car and still wouldn't be able to get even half of the price of the parts I'm afraid we have to wait for someone with more experience on the subject of Auto Supras...
  23. Have had no experience with driving a supra (manual or auto, still waiting for my manual RZ to get to me from Japan) but AFAIK, it is a normal old-school auto tiptronic and if it is anything like the one's I've had experience with (Pajero Evolution, Lancer Evolution GT-A, W211 E55 AMG) it won't be too much fun. It should be ok for straight line acceleration, but damn those autos can get very confused and slow when demanding control... The one on Supra can be a miracle, but I somehow doubt that But that is just my general experience with older (pre-2000) auto tiptronics and there's no other option other than waiting for those people here who have both (yeah, there are some crazy folk here ) and learn their experience. All I know that if I were in your position and didn't really need a car, I would sell the BMW and get a nice fresh Manual Supra imported from Japan, if that's feasible with German import legislation. Pretty sure you could get a very good example, with low mileage, bone stock or with good high quality mods for the money you'd get for that BMW I know people here in Georgia Would go bonkers over a turbo Diesel Manual BMW with 300HP That thing would easily sell for 25k Euros here, and that's more than enough for a VERY good JDM Supra. I got mine for about 14K Euros (Including every tax and import fee) from Japan and that's for a 1995 manual RZ with 74000 km on odometer AND a single Turbo already on it, including every necessary and unnecessary supporting mods. I hope I made my point clear - if you want a supra and can wave bye-bye to your BMW for it AND spending some time without a car is not a problem, I'd sell the BMW and use the funds for the supra, a proper one - in manual flavor
  24. Damn, that's a fine looking car. Can imagine how fun it is to be honest, I would think looo g and hard about the trade. Well if the supra were a manual, it would have an edge but as of now, I'm not sure can't really help you other than saying that prefacelift has different headlights and there's no vvti, but I'm sure others will chime in.
  25. I'd say, stick with the veilside guys I'll be very sad if I learn that I'm the only one with veilside bits on the supra :
