  1. Anyone else know if the stage 3 clutch noise described above is normal or heard of?
  2. I believe it may be a spec stage 3 clutch. But cant be sure. It does the usual judder sometimes when taking off from a stop. A few others on here have the same thing happen. Just really wanted to confirm that it was normal for the clutch to slip and make a slight rubbing noise on the incline I was on when I only partially lifted up the clutch pedal and revved the engine a bit? I was told the noise was to do with the clutch pressure plate and me not lifting the clutch to biting point when revving. Its always nice to get some other opionions Any ideas?
  3. Hey guys, I know i mentioned my lame clutch control in an earlier post today, but just had a few questions regarding clutchs. My Supra is an NA, engine swapped to a TT with W58 gearbox, Stage 3 clutch and LSD. Just wanted to firstly confirm the clutch slipping I caused earlier today was normal? I was on an incline and pulled the clutch up half way and applied some revs. This caused the clutch to emit a friction sound, a slight rubbing metal noise, until I completely lifted up the clutch, at which point I stalled. I assumed this was me not bringing up the clutch quick enough and applying enough revs? I was preety hesitant and slow lol. (New car and clutch to me) This happened a couple of times attempting to get up the incline lol. Supra drives fine and all seems well on the journey home. Secondly, has anyone had any expereince with the spec stage 3 + clutches as I may look into them if they are smoother for daily driving? Mines a bit more setup for drifitng atm, well it certainly feels that way. Also I have been told it may be worth getting hold of another W58 gearbox, anyone know where I can get one? Any help with these questions as always is appreciated Regards Ash
  4. Long story short. Went down to whifibitz London today to get some things sorted out. Once again thanks Darren for all the advise and help, really appreciate it. I know the car has been a bit of a pain lol. All of which now seem to be rectified. However In the process of attempting to get up the incline into the parking area I managed to slip the clutch on several occasions and stall the car twice lol. Really was not my day. Did get it up the hill eventually. Although second time round (after test driving with Darren) I slipped it again, at this point I felt like a right plonker. So Darren sorted it out lol. Still really trying to get used to this stage 3 clutch. Its got a much different biting point compared to my last import S15. Although its fine once you get going it really does not like slow moving or traffic. May consider the Spec 3 + as I have been told its a lot more friendly
  5. May talk to whifbitz and see if they can look at it Monday. Its definitely not any of the belts or runners at the front of the engine as these have all just been replaced by whifbitz last week. I think it may be a hanger or exhaust rattle myself. Guess i will see what Darren says and get it looked at. She drives great apart from this. Really lovely car after 4 months of restoration.
  6. Ok guys. Quick update. Just started car up after working with the rattling noise and depressed clutch. The noise continued, so i would assume its not anything to do with my clutch. Anything else it could be?
  7. From recollection it still occurred when depressed. However i will double check when i go out to my car after work at 6pm.
  8. is it something problematic that i would need to resolve soon or can i just live with it? Regards Ash
  9. Ok cheers mate. When i say stress its juts that i have a lot going on atm what with jobs etc.. When it comes to cars im usually pretty good with sorting them. I had a s15 at one stage, so no stranger to imports lol. Its just that the supra is new to me and trying to get rid of all the noises lol. In regards to the rattle, i believe it goes away after warming up/driving for a while. Not sure about when i depress the clutch. Just wanted to try and figure out the issue so i can sort it bud
  10. Any other suggestions guys on these issues? Cheers
  11. I was considering going back to whifbitz London on Monday, but it would be my second journey back there :/ The blowing noise isn't a major issue, but only just started noticing it. The rattle sometimes changes pitch in noise, so i becomes a bot more squeaky? Is anything major to worry about? Apart front this the noise stops after driving and turbod wotl as they should and generally dri es fine?
  12. Its a na shell with a tt engine and 5 speed w58 with stage 3 clutch.
  13. Hey guys, Got around to sorting the previous issues with my new supra, but now some other strange noises have appeared. So thought you ma be able to help advise me on them? The first noise is like a light blowing noise from under the bonnet when moving on off drive way. Sounds like when air escapes slightly from a balloon on occasion. The second noise is a rattle which is more prominent on startup. Sounds as if it comes from underneath the car just before the front wheels. The rattle isn't too loud and does settle down a bit after warming up, but you hear it a bit more if you tap on off the revs. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated, as all these issues are kinda causing me some uneeded stress atm. Thanks again. Regards Ash
  14. Fair enough. I mean no disregard to anyone, the car is 100 times better than it was since being fixed up by whifbitz, so i thank them. Just really trying to figure out what potentials could cause the issues i am currently experiencing for peace of mind. Hopefully we will sort these issues out next week and hopefully the head gasket is perfectly fine and its a simple fix
  15. Yeah i most likely will leave it on the drive until Tuesday morning for now and then drive it up to whifbitz for inspection. But surely if it was a gasket or leak whifbitz would have come across this? Also if the gasket was an issue would there not be other signs on the car, such as smoke or overheating?
  16. Ok cheers. Should i be driving it to whifbitz then as it is an hours journey or would i be safer having it towed?
  17. Cheers guys, i am getting it checked out on Tuesday now. The reason the coolant reservoir leak worries me is because people have mentioned the milkshake colour sometimes is a sign of a problematic gasket. Is that true?
  18. Hey guys, Regarding the coolant, as seen in the images. Is it normal for it to be a milkshake pink type colour? This was the other thing that raised concern.
  19. Hey guys appreciate that. Not all these issues were apparent straight away as said. It wasnt until I was nearing home that I noticed things like the squeaking all of a sudden happening and then the odd noise from rear of the car. The coolant I would not have noticed until driving about for sometime as the car needs to heat up and cooldown. Like I mentioned it was all new to me so I wasnt too sure on whether things were normal or not. Its going back Tuesday to Whifbitz so im sure all these things can be resolved. me and my Dad were a bit concerend about the rear clunk noise. It was mentioned it could be the exhaust hitting against the underbody?
  20. Hi guys, really need some friendly help and advice regarding my new Supra MK4 1993 which I just got back from Whifbitz London after 4 months of work done on it. Its a 1993 MK4 supra 5-speed with NA shell and a UK Spec TT GTE engine put in. Around 400bhp. Supras are all new to me as I used to own a Nissan S15. So bare with me lol. Basically picked up the supra a day ago and have had some issues with it which I hope somone might be able to answer. The first issue is a continuos squeaking noise from the front of the engine. I believe it to be the tensioner belt as Whifbitz installed a brand new Toyota Crank Pulley recently. The squeaking gets slightly faster/louder when I rev the engine? Would this be correct? I have included a link to a video I created of the noise below: https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=4B7B5B52E44A50D6!198&authkey=!AM2E55-uhlCKFJw&ithint=video%2cmp4 The next issue is again under the hood. Today I noticed that coolant had leaked from what i assume to be the overflow tank next to the right side of the radiator? Its spilt few mills of liquid over that area but has dried as well. I have been told it may be to do with a faulty radiator cap? (image below) The final issue is what I would describe as a clunk, clunk, clunk noise when moving off from a junction on occasion or going off in first to second. The sound emits from the rear of the car. However a new rear diff LSD was installed also by Whifbitz and new brushes too. Nearly forgot to add that all gears are nice and smooth, However reverse is easy to go into, but when putting back to neutral, I have to push it back with a slight bit of force. Just seems a bit stiff. Is this normal? If anyone can help with these issues, it would be greatly appreciated. Will take a few worries off of my mind also lol. Regards Ashley
  21. Thanks for your help bud. Just been messaged by my mechanic and he has told me it is reading high due to.it being in kilometers. So will need it converted. Will have to see if my local garage Horsham Developments can do the conversion.
  22. So just to confirm, the problem with the speedo is definitely because of it being in kilometers? And just needs converting? The speedo goes up to 180, which is correct for a tt right? Just wanted to make sure as i wasn't sure whether it may be a mixup because of the tt engine with NA setup etc. Regards Ash
  23. Hi guys, Just picked up my Supra from Whifbitz and have a few questions regarding the speedometer and mileage. Long story short the car was originally a 5-speed NA and has now had a Twin turbo UK spec engine put in instead. All seems to work fine in the car so far. However the speedometer I believe is not correct, as when I was doing around 80mph on the motorway home, the speedometer was reading 140. Even going through 40mph zones the meter was reading a higher figure etc. Would this be to do with it being in Kilometers? As the mileage of the car is currently set in Kilometers? How easy is it to rectify the speedometer and change to MPH? And how easy is it to change the mileage to miles? One other thing, I have a stage 3 clutch in the car, which Whifbitz did mention is for race applications. However on the way home when I was trying to head off in 1st gear from a standstill the car seemed to make a rattle noise, I presume this would be my fault with not putting enough power through, as its all new to me? Any help regarding this would be much appreciated as the speedometer is a real pain when trying to judge what speed im at in 30mph zones lol. Regards Ash
