  1. It's an SSQV, the intercooler pipes are bone dry. I'm going to make some plugs to plug off the BOV so I can at least drive it tomorrow (Got to get to an interview!). As long as the turbo isn't shot, that should solve it until I can get hold of a new BOV.
  2. I just checked inside the intercooler pipes - dry as a bone! There's only oil around the BOV area. Tomorrow I'll try blanking off the BOV and giving it a try (SSQV) as perhaps it's only creating a seal under heavier load?
  3. I didn't see any smoke out the back and I'm a bit afraid of giving it a 'good drive' with a potentially knackered turbo. I'm getting nothing at all from the first, as if it's either caught or something is jammed in it. It has a warranty for the rebuild, but I can't say I'm confident it'll get warrantied (I very rarely have good experiences with garages).
  4. Hi all, I had my turbos rebuilt by Turboforce in Yorkshire around March time. I've driven the car perhaps 2000 miles since. Today I noticed a lack of low end grunt. With my windows down, I can hear a light spluttering as I put my foot down and my boost gauge goes to exactly 0 and sits there... until 4000 RPM, where it comes to life like normal. I looked in the engine bay and my BOV is a bit 'well oiled' as well as the pipes surrounding it. Does it sound like my first turbo is knackered, or is it possible it's just a pipe coming off somewhere? Cheers
  5. I think it's 23 now - I called up when I was 22 and couldn't get a quote, but I did manage to get one from them this time when I was 23, although it was anything but cheap
  6. Er... 3-4 now? I can't remember
  7. £760 on a ten month policy. (Faster NCB) for a TT auto
  8. Just got this for my birthday
  9. I'm also with Admiral (I just turned 24 today) and they've been insuring me at a decent price for years

    Rota alloys

Generally, if you google 'Rota problems' you'll see one of about five photos. For day to day driving with potholes etc. on the road, I'd be far happier with a set of Rotas on the car then some expensive Volks which are bound to get damaged (and make me cry a bit ) Can't say I noticed any difference in 'feel' between my old Advans and my new Rotas. Then again, I'm not a brand snob
  11. I've been wondering this myself, I want to bring my engine bay to look as clean and stock as possible, but I've got a Cusco strut brace at the minute, which really doesn't fit in with the rest of the bay.
  12. Maybe now we can get some from Hassan I'd like to refresh all the suspension components of the car at some point, so hearing all this would be quite useful.
  13. I find that as long as i clip my seatbelt in before turning the ignition on, I get no problems. Would not snipping the power source fix this?
  14. I'm all for modernising the look of it, but the manual shifter is a bit...eh. Has anybody done any modernising that hasn't involved making it look like a manual?
  15. Is that a fake intercooler in the front too?
  16. Well, this has been and gone so I guess it can be deleted now
  17. Not to fear, I have hands like a Japanese woman it seems. I was able to wriggle my hands behind the turbos and under the pipes etc. and got the pipe back on. Running stable, stock boost now, the car feels much faster. Time to pop the EBC back on and get her back to normal
  18. I've just discovered I can about fit my hands down there for it. I've plumbed it back to stock (bypassing the EBC) and plan to reconnect that hose soon - it appears it hasn't been connected since the start of my woes, which explains a lot! Going to wait until my flatmate returns with his toolkit so I can set about removing a few of the pipes in the way to pop on a vac hose.
  19. Aha, may have solved it! The little actuator looking widget at the very back of the engine bay only had one hose coming off it. Alas, my hands can't fit down to plug another hose on without dismantling a few bits first, so I'll get that done this evening. From the map, that's the Exhaust Gas Bypass valve which is not plugged in correctly. It's the hose that the blue arrow is pointing at. Assuming that's disconnected, does anybody know if that would cause the problems that I'm describing?
  20. Checked it in what way? The pressure tank is the only part of the bay which hasn't had fresh vac hoses put on (Only because I ran out ) which may actually be causing this!
  21. Hi guys, Some of you may recall a while ago that I was having problems with my 2nd turbo not boosting at all, following a rebuild. The garage that fitted the turbos again 'enlightened' me that there was in fact a wastegate for each turbo. I was pretty sure that there was only one wastegate and the other wastegate looking thingy was for the exhaust gasses. (You've probably guessed by this point, I am not mechanically minded.) This had me worried that it's plumbed in wrong. I was comparing it to a stock TT today and I couldn't spot any noticeable differences (Although I was unable to check the actuator that sits at the very back of the engine, all hidden away etc.) - normally, I'd take it back there, but this garage is at the other end of the country (long story.) I've studied the 'sequential system explained' posts on here and to me, it seems like everything should be working just fine. I put my car in to the '5 minute TTC mode' that's supposed to help diagnose faults, but I still can't get anything from it. It boosts to 0.6 bar, then just tails off as revs raise. I've attached a picture to show the new 'map' of my engine bay and I was wondering if anybody could spot anything that may be causing this issue. Prior to the TTC mod I didn't get any rush, or even blip on the boost gauge at 4000 RPM, no 'switchover' sounds or anything. Post TTC mod, I still get cack boost. Cheers guys
  22. Is Jen the name of your car? If so, this has happened to me several times.
  23. I'm not sure if mine classes as having a 'kit' (OEM stuff) and works pretty well with the spoilerless thing. I don't like it spoilerless, mind. Just have better things to spend money on right now
