No photos But engine now runs. Had a few first start issues. I for got to put fuel return pipe on. So got fuel all over drive and had swapped the alloy idler pully from the NA on to this and put spacer on wrong. So engine wouldn't turn over. Need to carry out the 12 volt fuel pump mod, As car cuts out after a few seconds. A few bugs to sort with wiring. Oil level, oil pressure engine stop light don't work. But not to bad. say it's my first engine swap and all on done drive. It's bin kinda easy so far.

Was offed a soarer by a guy at work at a real good price. I was starting to fancy a turbo so it came along at right time. I was running nitrous at a 100+shot. With all that removed it has paid for the soarer and some other parts for the swap. My supra The soarer Spent two night stripping the soarer down ready to lift Had the supra mot'd on Thursday. Started to strip it down that night and after work Friday. In the rain on Saturday, me and my little bro started to swap the engines over. NA lump out the supra 1jz out the soarer In the supra 2jz in soarer Got most the 1jz connected up in the supra on Sunday. Just got the exhaust, wiring and and fluids to finish off.

Go on a uk based nitrous forum mate. You should be able to find out good company's to try from there.

Thanks for all the help everyone. Been to look at the car today,and everything looks good. So I just need to get it transported back home and I can start on the conversion. How much of a difference did the conversion make to your insurance? I'm waiting to hear back about mine.

Just planning on stock power, with maybe BPU in future. But no plans for anything more than that. Is there much wiring inside to get all ancillaries working? Ie speedo, rev counter, temp gauge.

Hi I've got the chance to get a full soarer at a good price. So I've been thinking of doing an engine swap. Has anyone got any advice on doing this? Or got any links to a good how too? The basic swap over of the engine shouldn't be to bad, from what I can see. But can't find a good write up on the wiring. I'm also unsure Which gear box to use? Both cars are auto. Just unsure if one is better than the other, or which would work out to be the essayist. Thanks for any help given. Ian

Can anyone confirm if this resistor is correct? As it looks like it may have been replaced. The one with the wire run under it.

Do both the speedo and odometer have the same feed from the speed sensor? Thanks for all your help so far.

Mine is an auto also. My OD/off light isn't flashing so don't think its a code 42 error. My odometer is still working as well so don't think its a sensor.

Will have to check for codes later. But my OD lights isn't on so don't think it's the sensor, and my odometer is still counting up the miles.

Will give it a go removing it. As you say it can't hurt. The reason I think the speedo has been altered is the solder on one of the resistors looks different to the rest. Anyone one got a photo of the speedo board and resistors?

My converter isn't connected in to the loom, it's connected straight on to the speedo. So I'm unsure if the speedo would work if I removed, it as I would have thought the speedo circuit would have been changed in some way for it to work. The converter is at the bottom with the 3 turn switches.

I was thinking of removing the converter, but I've never seen one wired like this. So wasn't sure if anything would have been done to the speedometer for it to work. But can give it a go.

No I don't think it was on. Not that I noticed anyway. Will check next time I take it out. What would it mean if the OD light was on? Cheers

Used the car this weekend for the first time in a few weeks and the speedo has stopped working. It's still adding miles to the odometer, and the rest of the dash seams ok. So I'm thinking its eather the speedo or the speed converter. My speed converter is wired in to the back of the speedo. I'm not sure if the speedo would have been changed for this to work? Is the any way of testing the speedo?

Welcome. Parts aren't really a problem. You can still get most parts new from toyota or some of the traders on here, there are also a few breakers about if you were after the parts second hand.

I've had nos on my NA for about 4 years now, I'm running 2 kits with a 100shot on my main one. I've had no problems with the engine or drive train. The refilling the bottle does get a bit annoying, as a 12lb bottle don't last long on a 100shot.
