  1. No mate, my plan would be to have two different tyre/wheel set- ups, one for dry conditions and one for wet. I'm just wondering can anyone shed some light on what would be a good tyre choice for my wet set!
  2. Hey y'all, I've done a search on this already but with no real joy. I'm looking for opinions on what would be a good track day tyre if the track happens to be appreciably wet. I realise the subject of track tyres has been done to death and I'm confident that I could choose a good set-up for dry conditions but seeing as I dwell in Ireland I imagine a good wet set-up would be as important. Is it a simple case of buying a set of quality road tyres with good characteristics in the wet? The car is specificly for track use so I would like both set-ups to maximise its potential regardless of what the weather is doing. Thanks in advance for your input Pedro.
  3. Ya know things are getting serious when the engine is only the 2nd biggest component under the bonnet, I've seen smaller turbines hanging from the wing of a passenger plane
  4. If any of ye good people are looking for interior, boot or air con parts drop me a line. Im in Daingean in Offaly by the way!
  5. Bugger me!! I didn't realise there was so many of us!!
  6. Aye be gorrah, and shur tisn't it the fine brouge that ever fell from a man's lips.
  7. Caught ya lookin at me stats! Do ya think I'm that green!
  8. Ah don't be bashful, we're all from a hick town livin in the midlands. Although that being said I'd be ashamed to say where I'm from too so I feel your pain!!
  9. I see a Tipp plate, where in the bog are you Claire??
  10. Michel Lane was selling a set of 17" volks before Christmas for I think about £250. You should give him a shout, see if they're up for grabs. Was gonna buy them myself but with courier charges included it didn't make much sense really
  11. Forgive my ignorance but are these different in any way to NA spec calipers?
  12. Yeah I'm starting to think I'm just looking for problems at this stage! By the time I fit the rollcage and move the fuel tank it'll probably weight more than it did in the first place! But it never hurts to get the opinions of those in the know. Thanks to all for your time and input. Oh by the way, anyone with a cheap uk brake set up and 17" lightweights, I got first dibs! Never hurts to be an optimist either!
  13. Read thesre two articles before but they just compounded my confusion! OEM brakes be they NA spec or UK spec are set-up for full factory weight, as I said most of the weight I'm shedding is lost from the cabin and boot so have I already upset the balance of the brakes due to the front/rear weight distribution being altered or am I just over thinking this whole point! To be honest the weight is nothing extreme, seats, carpets, mouldings, heater and its plumbing, the usual suspects, absolutely nothing like Ryan G.'s creation (hats off by the way) so its probably not that big of a deal. I'm just keen on getting the brake and suspension set-ups as dialled in as I can so I can concentrate on driving it on the ragged edge!
  14. Nope! Cannot find it anywhere, was certain I had it packed away. Will notify if it appears!
  15. Its stayin put for now bud, was looking for a manual winder kit to see if there was weight to be lost but that thread ended rather badly!
  16. A post I spent ages lookin for has appeared in Dat Inter's recent post so my question about the 17" rims has been addressed. I'd still like some feedback on the brake issue tho, I realise not everyone is quailfied to or would feel confident expressing an opinion on brake mods. But any help would be greatly appreciated from those in the know.
  17. Evenin all, I've a couple of questions I'd like to pose to ye. I'm in the process of making some semblence of a track car out of a NA supra, one thing I'd like to do is upgrade all the brakes to uk spec units but due to financial restraints and the fact that most of the weight I'll be shedding is from the rear and middle of the car I'd like to know is it really necessary to change the rear calipers to maintain brake balance or will the weight loss rectify the imbalance to some extent? My 2nd question is what options are available in 17" lightweight alloys that clear uk brakes. I'm trying to keep overall wheel/tyre diameter and weight down to maximise my limited power/torque reserves! Thanks in advance for any help ye can offer guys.
  18. dashboard is coming out but only long enough to fit the rollcage
  19. I dont believe there was one in the boot when I emptied it, I'll have to check to be 100% but I doubt it.
  20. Me being a poor man would have no knowledge of such things, some would go so far as saying I know f**k all about anything:(
  21. It would depend on the carbon grade of the material used, the very minimun required is a grade of 8.8 as is found stamped on the top of most ordinary bolts, the next grade up is 10.9 which is the norm for cap screws
