Poss worth checking the items mentioned in this thread and on some others like this Under Alternator/ Battery/ Charging in the search function. sounds like a possible wiring or connection issue like a poor ground/ earth maybe?. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?303990-Dash-warning-lights/page2&highlight=battery+warning+light

Is the Speedometer still working or any other electrical operations affected?/ warning lights displayed?. Maybe worth checking wiring/ connections on back of odometer display and Speedometer/ instrument gauges cluster. If Vehicle is Japanese Import possibly maybe Kph to Mph converter playing up/ poor connection. might be worth having a look at the pictures in this thread http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?141231-Speedo-converter-wiring-problem& ref the speedo converter

I don't recall any differences between a UK Manual or Auto 1st Cat, so couldn't see it being an issue tbh. I only remember that J spec TT (Man/ Auto) 1st cats had a different sized flange/ joint to the UK (Man/ Auto) 1st cat, but can't confirm 100% without searching the forum. hth

My preference would be the S2 Lotus Elise or Exige with the Toyota 1ZZ 1.8 VVTi or 2ZZ 1.8 VVTLi. Only time, from experience, I've seen starvation on those Toyota Engines is with Standard Sump pans on Vehicles being tracked hard, in which case would advise an uprated baffled sump or Lotus Accessory Accusump set up to prevent or reduce the likelyhood of starvation. But for normal road use not really known any issues with them tbh. The Z22SE Engine (as I believe the Vauxhall ECOTEC Engine range were designed by Lotus Engineering (Not Lotus Cars) as Lotus were owned/ part owned by GM/ Vauxhall), Only things I've known from experience, have been known to have Timing Chain failures, even when just starting the car up, but this can be prevented with a modified or uprated Timing Chain kit. Also EGR system Fault on them can be bypassed/ deleted with an EGR Cheater, availible online, which is hardwired into the EGR Valve Plug and an EGR Valve blanking Plate, availible from Vauxhall, but have had to remove, sleeve and refit the Post Cat O2 Sensor as after EGR Delete Mod would bring up a Cat system Effeciency fault code. I remember speaking to some of the guys at the Lotus Factory years ago who referred to the VX220 as "The Lost Lotus" as Lotus Dealers were'nt keen or interested in them and Vauxhall Dealers were'nt to enamoured on repairing them either. Only other thing is Brand Snobbery as it were, as with Lotus people think oooohh highly strung Exotic sports car, whereas Vauxhall sounds about as exotic as an Indesit washing machine. At the end of the day either car will perform just as well, be just as reliable as eachother, as well as pita to get hold of certain (or most) repair parts.

Some great finds there , some serious kahoonies to do some of those jumps and drop in's, really well executed.

Imo I would'nt have thought that the Theory test Centre or driving test Department's would be much help tbh. Here's a PDF on info on how to contact them after DVLA Vehicle Registration & Tax Office Closures and what the new methods of contacts are to be used on the following link: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/250142/INF259_151013.pdf , Hth.

I too own a '99 UK EP91 SR and have owned it since it was 2 yrs old/ for 15yrs have done 80k. It and has been an absolute solid little gem of a car tbh, never a worry for MOT and I'll run it till it can't be run no more lol!. Can't recommend them enough as a cheap run around/ go kart. If not had a look at already maybe worth having alook on the uk Starlet/ Glanza Forum http://www.ukstarletowners.com/index.php?. Have built a 300bhp 1.3 4EFTE engine which is in my mates Glanza, and another mate has an EP82 which he did is around/ over the 300bhp mark. Can't help but laugh at how rediculously quick they go, for a small shopping car. Like any cars of this age there are a few rough ones out there and best to go for as standard as possible car. Hth.

Cheers it really is such a lovely car , just a shame I no longer have the time, space & spare moolah to keep it

Some amusing items I've read on the interwebz about this topic for a bit of fun, lol!. What it really means: 40-ish = 49 Adventurous = Slept with everyone Average looking = Ugly, can only be loved by mummy Beautiful = Pathological liar, airhead Contagious Smile = Does a lot of pills Emotionally Secure = On medication Free Spirit = Junkie Friendship first = Former very “friendly” person Fun = Annoying New Age = Body hair in the wrong places Open Minded = Desperate Outgoing = Loud and Embarrassing Passionate = Sloppy Drunk Voluptuous = Very Fat Large Frame = Hugely Fat Needs soul mate = Stalker The Best and Worst Chat Up Lines and Put Downs Man: "Haven't I seen you someplace before? Woman: "Yeah, that's why I don't go there anymore" Man: Haven't I seen you someplace before? Woman: Yeah, that's why I don't go there anymore. Man: Well, I guess you really don't belong in the men's toilets anyway. Can I have a picture of you so I can show Santa what I want for Christmas? I may not be Fred Flinstone, but can still make your Bedrock Wow! You must be a parking ticket cuz you've got" Fine! Fine!! Fine!" written all over you! HE : How did you get to be so beautiful? SHE : I must've been given your share. Wow, your legs must be really tired because you have been running through my mind all night! Man: If I were to rearrange the alphabet, I would put U and I together. Woman: Yeah?! Well, if I were to rearrange the alphabet I would put F and U together. Get my point?! Man: "Would you like to dance"? Woman: "I don't care for this song and surely wouldn't dance with you" Man:I'm sorry, you must have misunderstood me, I said you look fat in those pants". He: Would you like to dance? She: Not with you. He: Oh, come on, lower your standards a little. I did. Do you believe in love at first sight? or do you think i should walk past again? You're ugly but you intrigue me. Do you have plans for the rest of your life? Do you have a map? I just keep on getting lost in your eyes. Shall we talk or continue flirting from a distance?

Maybe another thing to check possibly Airflow Meter (located on pipe out of the back of the Airbox), slightly dusty/ dirty?, impairing Intake Air temps and Air speed readings. http://my.prostreetonline.com/2013/11/20/how-to-test-your-2jz-mass-airflow-sensor/

On my Diamond cut TTE rims, I purchased brand new in 2006, from my old Lexus dealer I used to work at, are Marked/ branded/ made by German Wheel manufacturer Artec, (as at the time had noticed earlier rims showing the Borbet Logo) the brand Artec also shown on TTE Toyota TUV Certificate paperwork that was in each box with the wheels, suspect possible change in Wheel supplier during production or had both incase of quality control issues? by Toyota & Lexus. Have noticed on some Other Toyota TTE Accessory Alloys the Artec logo/ brand on as well. http://www.ityre.com/en/disks/catalog/artec/ http://www.superstreetonline.com/how-to/aftermarket-parts/eurp-0303-artec-wheels/
