  3. got coil packs thanks mate! Cant wait to watch the DVD!
  4. Thats the one Todd! Are you looking to sell? Thanks alain
  5. Wow! what an amazing offer James thanks, But unfortunatly Although it is an idle issue it makes it undrivable. I do have a friend with a gt4 that im can borrow parts of to check mine its just gonna take time. Im actually going to start with a fuel filter change see if that makes a difference? But next step is static timing. Thanks again James
  6. Thanks for the replys guys I ended up paying them £300 for the 'work' they did so i am a little happier but not much. The problem now is if it does go anywhere else it all has to be checked over again. But im going to do it all myself now (should have probably done that to start with) I am quite good with cars have all the tools and the toyota workshop manual. It annoys me these days that if you want something do you have to do it yourself! Thanks james for the reply. Its a 1991 mr2 turbo. The cambelt was changed at a different gargae to the one i had problems with (this leads me to think igniton). The other garage checked the cam timing (i have also checked it) and it is spot on! but It has a missfire on idle so the way i see it is that it has to do either with the afm, ignition timing, vacuum leak, or a related sensor. It has had a compression check with good results.
  7. I dont understand these people who are in and out in 30 sec?! The toilet is the place where you can get some time to yourself, reflect and relax. Thats is until someone knocks on the door 'are you going to be long?!'
  8. Does any one have one i could borrow:d to see if mine is broken or someone with one going cheap i can buy? Thanks alain.
  9. [quote name= (I have a slight knocking noise on front end on bumpy road. My local mechanic spent half a day on it but could not figure it out = no charge.)[/quote] Thats what i mean, most people work like that dont they?
  10. Awesome ill try that!
  11. No i said i was happy for them to do that.
  12. They have done a few things they: picked it up - £50 fitted a new dizzy cap (although i had fitted a new dizzy cap) and rotor arm- £50 cut of a locking wheel nut ( a generous hours labour) -£32 reset the timing belt ( previous garage said this was set to autodata. but hey!?) So another 2 hours for that -£64 An hour for checking for vacum/boost leaks- £32 so total im will to pay is £228 even though car is just as bad as i left it with them with no answear to what the problem is.
  13. Tom, It has only one coilpack that goes to the dizzy then out from there, and all iginition componants are new. The spark is good and the timing spot on. Its more like its dump to much fuel into the cylinder and not enough air beacause all the plugs get sooted up and black somke out the back. Its such an annoying situation, I had it at another garage who 'looked it over', they towed it for me to another garage who 'looked it over' and nither of them could fix it but the guy at the first garage who did all that said ' i cant fix no charge'.
  14. on idle, i put it down to either ECU, AFM, MAF sensor, pressure sensor. But all these can be checked for resistance to see if they are working within parameters apart from the ECU. But they have not given me a definate this isnt working or that is working etc. What i want for my £420 is a list of all the sensors and there test readings really but fat chance ill get that.
  15. Well they have some done some usefull stuff that im willing to pay for. But i was not expecting the bill to be so high for them so send me back a car that doesnt work, and have no answers for.
  16. no they just com up with the bill. I do understand that i should pay for their time, but its not my fault they dont have the expertise to fix it and spend all that time messing about with something they dont really understand.
  17. I have an mr2 turbo with a missfire problem, i must be something simple but i couldnt find it, so i put it into a local place that does starlets think they might be able to sort it. They have not managed to sort it out and cant tell what exaclty is wrong with, they say it could be this it could be that etc (yeh i knew that already). They want to bill me £420 for labour for spending ten hours 'looking over the engine' but not solving the problem. If i pay i end up exactly where i started but £420 lighter . What can i do about not paying the full amount?
  18. Would you take £35 for the wheel bearing? Thanks alain
  19. Sorry bit late getting back guys, looking at £20 p&p im afraid.
  20. Id like this but its getting it back to essex, Anyone know of anyone that comes from oxford to essex?

    fast & furious 4

Looking forward to this! loved no1 (pretty much the reason i bought a supra) and tokoyo drift was good too. I think the key is to not take it to seriously. Its not a escort xr3i but an rs200 you get a quick glimpse of it in the trailer.
  22. money sent for coil packs thanks
  23. I like it very old school, dont change a thing!
