  1. It's a shame nobody has seen this little niche in the market! Supras are at the age now where suspension arms are needing to be replaced. Wouldn't it be nice if someone made decent replacements, with decent spherical bushes, for a reasonable price! If you had to replace all 8 wishbones, it'd cost more than a large number of Supras are worth! Totally prohibitive.
  2. They're new....here: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=304112
  3. Actually, thinking back to when I rebuilt and painted the UK calipers on my old TT6, the new Toyota discs I fitted came with the hubs painted as standard! So, hopefully these ones will too. Not arrived yet though.
  4. Thanks guys. Yes, obviously, the idea behind paint is to stop the hubs looking rusty and crap! Not to have the whole disc black!! Lol.
  5. I'm currently overhauling my brakes. Got some Toyota discs and pads en route at the moment. If I etch prime and hi temp black the entire discs and then fit them, would the paint contaminate the new pads as it's removed from the braking surfaces or would it just burn off?? Going to be impossible to judge where the pads would contact the disc and then mask that exact area.
  6. Just had an email from them with a photo of the finish I'd get with the standard 'basic' paint. Absolutely what I want to be fair so I'll settle for that! Extra £200 for their 'high end' paint!!
  7. For now, the car sits on stands which torments me every time I walk out the door!
  8. Yea, no problem. I should have them back early next week so will post photos when I do. I'm going for 'Option 2' which includes a basic satin black coating warrantied for two years. You can upgrade to 'Option 3' which gives a high end, high gloss finish in a colour of your choice which is warrantied for four years. The black suits me so no point paying the extra. I also have some proper Supra brake decals which I'll apply when they're back and perhaps put a HT satin lacquer over the top to seal them in.
  9. I had a NSF caliper seize solid on Thursday last week. Took it off at the weekend and it was in an awful state! Decided to remove and check all calipers over the weekend and they were all screwed! Out of the 6 pistons around the car, only one was free. And all the sliders were stiff! Sent the calipers off to these guys today for full re-manufacture: http://www.brake-caliper-painting.com Strip / blast / paint / rebuild with new parts and send back to me is £231 for all 4. I've also bought new Toyota discs and pads all round as well as Goodrich braided hoses and DOT 5.1 fluid. All told, £595. Not cheap but I'm hoping to see a great improvement in the brakes as they've not been great at all in the ~ 3 months I've owned the car. My rears were in a similar state to yours. Take a look at these pads. Both came out of the NSR caliper. Ones is almost dead and BADLY lipped, the other almost new! Looking at the disc, the inner face is where the badly worn pad was. The shiny bit is recessed around 3-4mm. Not good at all! To be honest, I'm feeling lucky that the brakes hadn't failed all together! You can see fluid had been misting around the seal in the first photo. The previous owner had recently had the pads changed too! Makes you wander about the competence of the 'mechanic' who fitted them!
  10. I normally plump for the 'better quality' more expensive kits, but after advice from a few members here, I've recently fitted an eBay HB4 kit to my UK headlights. £26 delivered and they're fine! I normally use 4300k as they give a pure white light but in this case I've gone for 6000k as they exactly match the colour of some SUPERB LED sidelight bulbs I use! This is the HID kit: http://bit.ly/Vnwc1d The bulbs don't FEEL totally snug in the holders, but they don't rattle around or cause dodgy light beams. The LED bulbs are these: http://bit.ly/SLJeza They're great and since you get 4 in a pack, you can put the other 2 in your number plate lamps!
  11. Nice one, cheers Nic! I have been looking here: http://www.brake-caliper-painting.com They get top notch reviews and would charge £55 per front and £42 per rear for full re manufacture! Seems a bit of a no brainer really!? Do you have any master cylinder stoppers??
  12. Ok, the NSF has totally seized today so I need to sort this! I'm buying a house at the moment that needs A LOT of work so as much money needs to be channelled to that as possible. This does put me on a bit of a budget as regards to rebuilding my calipers! Do I do them all as a matter of course, or just the failed one and go from there? Am I likely to get a brake imbalance if I just rebuild one caliper then put new pads all round??
  13. LS400 brakes aren't going to go behind my wheels I don't think! The back of the spoke is already pretty close to the Jspec calipers as it is!! I've emailed Chris for prices. I think it's probably the best way to go.
  14. Yep, mine turned up too. It's fitted but not great as my main carpet just has a hole with no ferrule as depicted on the instructions. Does the job though, no more mate sliding forward!
  15. Awesome! It's got a few niggles that I've found since having it which I didn't pick up on I viewed it. But otherwise, a lovely car! So nice to be back in a Supra. I'm considering fitting LS400 4 pot calipers as the brakes are shocking but I'm not sure they'll fit behind these wheels thinking about it!?
  16. They're 2 piece. Have PM'd Ibrar about refurb'ing centres in current colour and refinishing the lips. Noz, I've owned it just over a month now. Bought it from a member in Devon. You know the car then??
  17. Cool! I'll keep an eye out for some.
  18. Do LS400 calipers bolt straight up to the Supra front and rear??
  19. The LS400 upgrade seem much more economical than UK upgrade, and from what I've read, just as good. I stripped and rebuilt my UK spec front and rears on my old TT6 using Chris Wilson seals / stainless pistons / stainless pins. If just doing this will make the brakes any good I'll happily do it but don't want to go to time and effort if it'll be wasted!
  20. Possible or even worth trying? The brakes on my NA are not great! I've not long had the car and the previous owner has recently changed the pads, but I wouldn't mind betting they were cheap motor factor pads! I'm pretty sure one of the calipers is sticking ever so slightly, so ideally I could do with overhauling them. Is this likely to improve them or should look at changing the pads / maybe disks too? Or, should I just live with them until I can afford to put UK spec / LS400 calipers on? The complaint I've got is the amount of force required on the pedal to get significant breaking power. When you start the car cold and the engine idles high, if you foot is. It hard on the pedal when you select D the car is off!!
  21. Cheers guys. Any recommendations on where to take the lips? I think I'd be better off taking them to a metal finisher rather than a wheel refurb company??
  22. I'd thought about gold centres, not sure how they'd look on a silver car though? I was thinking anthracite centres if they were refurb'd. Also, the rims are slightly curbed. Can they be refinished?
  23. My car came fitted with 17" TRD Type F/T rims. They're actually a lovely wheel and I don't dislike them, but keep think of fitting some nice clean UKs. I've never seen another set and the only ones I can find for sale are 15" and up for $1100 without tyres. Got no clue what mine would worth? So question is, stick with these rare, nice looking wheels or go for a nice clean stock look? I'm sticking with the stock exhaust too. I like the look of the stock tip so I've just had the centre boxes deleted for a bit more sound.
  24. Just placed my order with shop4toyota. PayPal payment went through with confirmation but when I was redirected back to the site I got an error message. Hopefully they received my order!
  25. Cheers mate. Shall order tomorrow.
