  1. I'll take some measurements tonight before and after the new insulators have been fitted, taking into account jacking the car up on both instances and we can see what happens...
  2. Thats my thinking. I was thinking of it like an o-ring. Over time the o-ring may take on a 'set' due to pressure and there is an obvious difference in section versus a new o-ring. As dandan states, against an old boot, would the new one hold it's initial shape slightly better and lift the ride height?
  3. Im not totally sure...I just wondered if the old insulators were worn and old, would the brand new ones increase the ride hieght given the possible degredation in rubber plascticity of the old ones? It's not something I'm saying will happen, I just started thinking about it last night as I'm going to be fitting them tonight.
  4. Guys, I'm running CW suspension and recently bought some brand new rear rubber insulators (rubber gators that protect the piston of the damper on shock absorber). I'm wondering if anyone has any idea what effect this will have on the ride height, if any. I've been mulling over it in my head and wondered whether it would raise the ride height slightly? Cheers Jim
  5. This is a good point Shane and i take that on board. I'm trying to get some sense out of these guys and not getting anywhere!
  6. Yeah, I have already dealt with Open Reach and they are coming to site in the next few days. The builder will be laying the cables on site and BT/Virgin will connect them in the road (where the mains are currebntly running), but I'm not fully clued up on which services are brought down which lines. I have been told by personel at Virgin that a virgin line would give capability for all virgin services and will also allow SKY tv capability, although I'm not totally convinced.
  7. Hi guys, Im after a little advice from anyone who can help. I'm building a new property and am currently sorting out new connections for all utitlities. Water, electric and Gas are sorted and after submitting plans, each provider has quoted for new connections. However, I'm struggling with the phone/internet/TV. I dont know whether the property will be served by SKY TV or by Virgin cable TV. So, do i need to get a new BT line and a new virgin cable line put in? I have been told Virgin cable TV cannot use a BT line, but that Sky TV can operate down a virgin line, so why would anyone have a BT line over a vrgin line for a new property? To me, if a BT line is installed, all that offers over a virgin line is a BT phone. Everything else (i think) can come down the virgin fibre optic cable. Is this right guys? Please correct me if I'm wrong because right now I'm a little confused! I could simply get a virgin line and a BT line put in, but it seems daft to do so. At the end of the day, the property will need broadband, phone and TV capabilty. A new virgin cable would give all three Virgin services, and as far as I'm aware would also support SKY TV. Thanks for any help / advice in advance. Jim
  8. Do these have a 60.1mm counterbore on the backface (with no spigot rings required) and a 60.1mm spigot on the front face?

  10. I stand corrected. Yup, it was Virage Porsche. Typo on the laps...15 mins is correct. I dont know for sure whether he blacked out or not, it was just what I heard from a few sources around the track.
  11. Yeah and I read the same thing on the journey back yesterday so wasn't totally convinced of the truth in this black out story. However, we happened to see and fortunately speak with Derek Bell on the ferry (5 time Le Mans winner) and he was told the same story that Mansell blacked out......
  12. I just got back from Le Mans early this morning. What an amazing event and achievement. To see those cars at full bore for 24 hours is simply breathtaking, especially when you see how they leave the 500hp 1100-1200kg GT1 and GT2 cars standing in their wake! The Peugeot 908 HDi FAP seemed to have it in the bag at 3am sunday morning when we were watching them flying through the virage corners with the diesel engines silently whisking along, and then came Audi, steadily 4 seconds a lap slower than the Pugs to pull it through. Unbelieveable:d Unfortunately, Nigel Mansell blacked out after 15 laps after coming down the Mulsanne straight at approx 190mph. Apparently after speaking to a few pit guys he had to pulled out of the car exhausted after the friday night qualifying session where he drove for just one hour! He then decided he was ok to race on the saturday! Good old Nige battling on, but it must be time for him to call it a day. He just cant race like he used to, especially in such demanding conditions as an endurance race like Le Mans.

    OIL spill

BP mobilised to initially drill 2 deviated relief wells to intercept the Horizon well at 18,000ft vertical depth... 1 to plug the well and the other to divert the flowing oil and gas elsewhere and away from the damaged BOP and riser. This started almost immediately after the disater occurred ( i.e - within days). The cost of drilling 2 wells, from offshore platforms, in 5000ft water depth, deviated to intercept at 18,000ft is significant. Everyone at BP and anyone in the oil industry knows the ONLY solution lies with these relief wells. As already mentioned, the funnel caps, underwater ROV's, barrels of mud thrown down to plug etc etc etc etc etc are there to satisfy press, media and general public perception that SOMETHING is being done. The reality is nothing will stop this oil until the relief wells are complete. Hence the immediate mobilisation to drill the relief wells within hours of the blow out.

    Play rims

I think they might be Wed Sport RS-5. You often find they are wheels put on supras in Japan. Both mine and my brothers car were imported with these wheels. Here are a few pics and some photoshop as im toying with getting mine refurbished.

    OIL spill

I'm pretty sure as already mentioned that the reservior pressure is 17,000psi. The reservoir is also at 18,000ft vertical depth, not 35,000ft. The problem does not solely lie with the Blow out preventer valve (BOP) that has failed. The riser that transports the oil from the seabed BOP to rig at surface is now critically damaged due to the sucken BP/Transocean rig and is also venting.
  16. What are these wheels...GTLM what? Im pretty interested in them and where to get them at decent price.
  17. I would obviously say quicksilver like mine! Existing wheels are silver, but thinking of going dark anthracite / black as per my photoshop pic![GRIN][/GRIN] The quicksilver paint polishes up great and although it may sound strange, when the daylight begins to fade and we head into dusk light, it really really comes into its own...but then again.....thats only in the evening / night!
  18. No i guessed that...i just wondered if anyone could provide an opinion of the changes they have seen from the new unit compared to the stock.
