  1. Any increases in performance (smoothness, bhp/toprque figures) compared to stock. Ease of fitting. Does it use the existing ducting? Prices. Unit dimensions. Details of core type (bar and plate / tube and fin). This kind of info would be real helpful in trying to decide which unit best suits my needs because at the moment I'm a little bit in the dark of the benefits any of them may or may not offer.
  2. Hi guys, I'm after a side mount intercooler to replace my stock unit and have been looking for some time at the possible options. So far I've read a little about Chris Wilson's, Whifbitz, Radtech and Miami GT, but I dont really have any sound info to base my choice on. For anyone running any of these units, i would really appreciate any feedback on performance compared to the stock intercooler, ease of fitting and prices. The general concensus appears to be the the CW version is the best from an efficieny and performance standpoint, but it's fair to say the price reflects that. I have spoken to Paul about his Whifbitz unit and that looks extremely promising. Im running a BPU set up currently, but with the addition of a new side mount intercooler and an AEM FIC I'm hoping to get a little more. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks
  3. Interesting. I may give them a go Ellis.
  4. Hi guys, Im looking to insure my supe over the summer from april to september. I've had it laid up through the winter, keeping the mileage down and protecting her from the crappy british winter roads! I'm now looking to get her going and i dont really want to pay for 12 months insurance. Does anyone know of successful insurance on a shorter basis? i.e - 6 months? Ive searched and tried a few companies but with little luck. I spoke with Sky about having fully comp for 6 months, then dropping down to TPFT for the remaining 6 months to get the cost down whilst its off the road, but they could not commit to that given the value of the car!!! Any ideas peeps? Thanks Jim
  5. The offset on my current 19" wheels are 35mm and the general concensus after discussing with Ibrar is going no less than 30mm for the widest possible wheel base. I understand about optimum settings...you only have to think about how many years R+D were put into the Supra, so no one can argue that 17" wheels are best. However, i have had my wheels on for 2 years, and prior to that i had 18" wheels. I personally dont notice much difference. Yes, if you hit a tram in the road, it follows more aggressively, but other than that the the difference i have noticed is minimal. I agree 100% about spiggot rings and to avoid where possible. The problem i have is that to maintain a 50 offset with a wide aggressive wheel base, some pretty wide (and expensive) wheels are required!
  6. Good idea Jamie, but unfortunately Im in the states for a few weeks at the end of Jan and into Feb! Bugger! I may give them a call to discuss it though. Thanks guys
  7. Jamie, I think you're right abour Chris's recomendation! I hva efound the suspension set up spot on. You're exactly right that it's hard enough when you push and copes perfectly at lower speeds. I have not had any issues with rubbing or bottoming and i really do love the set up. It's interesting reading what you run with the 18 inch wheels and i may well be tempted by a similar set up having already sounded a local company out with regards to trimming the arches.
  8. I know Chris is against 19" wheels with his suspension and there is a lot of talk about the terrible handling with 19" wheels. Yes i agree totally if we are talking about a track car and optimum performance set-up, but on a road car I personally dont push the car to the limit where i would notice the difference. It may well be worth asking though. Like you both say, it's as good a point to start as any other!
  9. Guys, I have been around this loop so many times and never really gotten a solid answer. I would like to work out my options in terms of wheel size, tyre size and offsets for my supra for a relatively aggresive wheelbase. I have CW suspension and currently run 19" wheels. Tyres are 235 35 and 265 30. The tyres are quite a tight fit on the wheel such that there is basically no overhang and the wheel is the widest running part, not the tyre (if that makes sense)? What i mean is with a thicker profile tyre, the tyre will bulge slightly and may even protrude out very slighty further than the actual rim on the wheel. I feel that my wheels could quite easily sit out another 5mm without trimming the arches, and 10mm if the arches are trimmed. Therefore my quesiton is... Does anyone have CW suspension, with 19" wheels? If so, what are the wheel / tyre sizes and associated offsets? If not, does anyone have CW suspension with 18" wheels and the same question? Thanks Jim
  10. Guys, I wanted to star a thread to try and collect some info and get some more opinions. I have ahd a little discussion with Ibrar about this and his advice has been great as always, but i just wondered what other members are running.... Im looking for a slightly more aggresive whell offset on my supra as i feel the wheels could sit out another 10-15mm or there abouts. I am currently runnning 19" Vortex R (35mm offset) Tyres are 235,35,19 and 265,30,19 My question is what offset could i realistically run without having to chop the bodywork and to avoid any rubbing? Ibrar seems to think 30mm would be the limit but i wonder what people are actually running at the moment? If i am unable to gain much more without chopiing the arches etc, thats ok as i am in the process of lining up a guy to cut the arches back anyway, but i just thought it would be good to know the set up on other supras with 19" wheels. If a few people came back and said they are curtrently running 19" wheels with 20mm offset and no issues, i would be far more confident in heading down this road. I did manage to find this thread... http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthread.php?t=197901&page=2 but just wanted to try and collect some more info! Thanks guys Jim
  11. Thats exactly what i was thinking! The splined diameter fitment into the hub looks like a direct replacement....
  12. When you say the knurled bit, isn't that the splined diameter that presses into the hub?
  13. did these have longer studs with them mate?
  14. Guys, I'm going to be doing some experimenting with wheel spacers in attempting to widen by wheel track on the supra. The only bit of info im struggling with is to do with the wheel studs. I'm aiming for approx 15mm spacers and am likely to need some longer (15mm extended) studs. Without getting a stud out and checked, Im not completely sure on the details. As far as i can remember they are M12 x 1.5 but im not sure about the spline dimensions. Here is a link to some 20mm extended toyota studs..... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Toyota-wheel-studs-extended-20mm-Mr2-Corolla-x16_W0QQitemZ290294884832QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item4396ec69e0 ...would these work? Thanks Jim

    TUV wheel spacers

    ok will do. Thanks James
  16. Guys, Im after some decent spacers. I cant really afford new wheels ( correct width) and as I'm not really driving the car that much at the moment Im going to go with some spacers for now. If i was using the car everyday i wouldnt be happy doing that but for now i will. Im after something like 10 / 15mm spacer for the rears and 20mm spacers for the front. Where is the best place to go or is it a case of getting some machined up to suit?
  17. Im after the lack plastic OEM trims... 2 x side pieces 4 x wheel arch pieces 2 x fender peices. They need to be good condition really. No cracks, splits etc! Thanks Jim
  18. Mines tucked up nicely, warm and dry until the spring! Time to get a few things sorted... CW intercooler Emanage Ultimate Water Injection New Exhaust Should keep me relataively busy! :-)

    Trickle charger?

Bought one from Aldi last night so ill keep everyone posted on it.
  20. Guys, Does anyone here use a 'trickle' charger for their cars if they are not using them on a daily basis just to keep the battery topped up? I'm thinking of getting one but wanted to see if anyone makes use of a particular type/make etc. Cheers Jim
  21. I have played the accordian since i was 4 years old and im 27 now! Got no intention of stopping! My dads side of the family are irish so it was an easy thing to pick up. I have never really had any negative comments and as SUPRALOOPY says... if you are good at something it really does not matter what it is, it will just show.
  22. Does anyone have a genuine Do-Luck front bonnet avaliable? If not, any decent contacts would be great. Cheers Jim
