Paul, Great subject. Not being funny but the "unchecked" has no legal bearing whatsoever. It actually says this in the Terms and Conditions (of our courier anyway). We've signed unchecked for things for over 2 years - its cost us thousands of pounds still. Now, we check the box outside, if theres cuts, dints, holes or footprints (I'm not kidding) we sign for as damaged. If you do sign for good in your own name or unchecked check them as soon as possible (within the hour). If you do not notify the courier the same day, you have no entitlement whatsoever to insurance/compensation - another clause. Gaz.
