As I remember, there was the Z1000 ST (shaft drive) and the Z1000 chain drive that had the squareish tank, but fairly subdued styling, then there was the Z1R that added a triangular side panel and small half fairing. Silvery blue was THE colour:)

No, I'm after something I lost long ago. TBH, just buying a bike wont give it to me, but for a while tonight I was convinced it would. I'd need enough balls to forego the leathers and helmet and find miles of open, uncongested highland roads too. Not particularly fast, but rapid, confident and free. May as well have a bike I like the look / style of too, but out-right performance and handling not really needed. Too late though, I'd kill myself within weeks I'm sure, or get myself killed. The Supra and I understand each other, a new big bike would take a lot of getting used to after all these years, and I hate all the bloody armour plating I'd have to get stifled up in.

Havent ridden either, but I've been in close proximity to both. In the days when I swore I'd never buy a car, most of my friends were bikers and some lucky ones had the stuff of dreams (in those days). I test rode a Z900 Z1 the day after I passed my test, but couldnt afford it. It was nice, but there was something special about the Italian stuff. I lived in a B&B in the late seventies and there were often guys with big bikes staying over...thats when I saw my first Van Veen. Looked ace and sounded great too. The Jota was just beautiful, and I've wanted one ever since.

No way ! I was talking previous MkIV...the only way I could fund a bike would be to go back on a promise to the wife about a decent MX5 in the summer.

No I aint by a long way. Whilst we are on the subject of badges, I lust after an old Laverda Jota too, or an old Moto Guzzi Le-Mans. I'd be happy with a Van Veen wankel as well. Off the wall, slightly left of field stuff...the V Rod gets in here due to the styling only. I admit its a shame its a Harley, but I love the looks.

I've ridden one, for about four miles. It was the first bike I'd ridden for over ten years, a bit silly really. I seriously looked to buying it and a smaller car when I decided to sell my Aerotop, but I chickened out. No it didnt handle in the sense I was used to and it scared me a bit, but it felt good. I'd buy one because I like the look of it, but I'm not sure about the image at all.

But its gorgeous. I've had bikes before but got hurt bad and wife wont forgive me if I get another. Besides, she wouldnt get on it even if she let me buy one, so I think its a non starter. I'm not a great fan of Harleys but just love the V Rod.

Well, Natasha Kaplinski turned me down flat, even after I said she could keep the hand-cuffs and horse-tailed butt-bung afterwards. So now I want this. http://www.warrs.com/cgi-bin/bikesales2_cgi/db.cgi?db=defaultor&uid=default&New_or_used=Used&sb1=9&so1=ascend&view_records=View+Records&nh=15&mh=1 Wife is not happy, daughters not happy, sons not happy. Cats a little dubious too. Should really buy the wife a new car, but I have a yearning.
  12. In the light of a recent post by Big Boss type number 1, I'm going to retract my scandalous name calling. Terry Wogan on the other hand, blatant trouser pilot.
  13. Nice one Matlee...great to see good news on here. Hope it pans out for you:)
  14. I get it now:) You are a corporal in Delta Force 2000 and thats your squad car:sly:
  15. Oh I dont know...er, how about Anne Robinson, I like her. Or Ellen MacLezza, as she more of a man than I'll ever be. Terry Wogans cool too though. JKs a sweaty twat.

    2 down, 7 to go

If it ultimately results in civil war, yes they will have succeeded. We have a fair way to go before that happens though, and if everyone can keep their heads and let the authorities do their job without hysteria, resentment and over-reaction then it would never really get that far. A feeling of victimisation is understandable in the circumstances, but in this case both the victims of bombs and the victims of mis-trust and suspicion currently face the same enemy.

    Skirts

I've been there and feel your pain. I went through this, and in the end I realised the answer was staring me in the face all the time. I love it just the way it is...no skirts whatsoever.
  18. At least you wont forget which end is the front.

Terrorism is a secretive business, its obvious that police intelligence is going to be patchy and grey. With apologies to the innocent Muslims already freed and the innocent Muslims yet to be arrested and freed in the future, I'm sorry but I'd rather see thousands of suspects arrested and later found to be innocent if it means one genuine terrorist is caught....the alternative doesnt bear thinking about. Another aim of terrorists is disruption and the escalation of bad feelings between factions....cant help wondering if the recent bad intelligence and false arrests are due to rather clever miss-information on the part of the enemy.
