  1. I was only just thinking about this the other day!
  2. I wish I still had my V8 as I would have added another to the number
  3. Mine was running a UK cluster with no issues - a UK cluster is plug and play in a J-Spec. Maybe try another cluster (if you could borrow one) or speed sensor. Something doesn't seem right though....
  4. Taking pictures is good in the absence of a dash cam - especially one showing the road positions of the vehicles. We used to have a camera in the glove box of the work's van as the company insurance wouldn't do anything without pictures of damage and the scene. Dash cams actually show what the sequence of events are - and are unfortunately becoming a necessary windscreen accessory
  5. Sump and wiring will be different but it's do-able. As above though, why not swap like for like as you won't be gaining anything other than a Lexus badged engine....!
  6. IIRC when I fitted genuine UK clocks, I did not need a converter. Are you sure someone hasn't just stuck a UK dial on a Jap cluster? EDIT: Ah - if they're UK clocks and you still have a converter you'll definitely need to remove it
  7. Easy to remove in one lump if you have an engine hoist. take the bonnet off though (obviously!)
  8. IIRC you'll need to remove the dash bulb too.
  9. Pretty much. Some of the Lexus models have wiring running to the door mirror glass too but you wouldn't get that for the Supra!
  10. If you've never had one, I guess it could be seen as pointless. Having had one in every Lexus I owned, it was the first thing I retrofitted in my Passat when I bought that. They prevent dazzle far better than a standard manual tilt mirror and in my opinion make crunching night time miles far safer
  11. Page 128 of the manual here - http://www.mkivsupra.net/docs/repair/Electrical%20Diagrams.pdf
  12. Try ebay for UCF20 LS400s breaking. I got a couple of sets in the past and paid no more than £100 posted. I always bought new discs and pads though
  13. SC400 and LS400 props are too long to just bolt on. You'll either have to get a custom prop, or use a Soarer front section with a Supra TT rear section and swap the diff flange for a TT one.
  14. You need the later LS400 discs and calipers from a UCF20 LS400. The ones you have are from a UCF10
  15. Not grumpy at all. Don't see how that could have come across as grumpy....?
  16. I love threads like this - ask for ideas then say you know all about it anyway.....
  17. I disassembled a celica tacho and used that - I've got it in my head that it came from an ST182 model If you bend the four metal tabs out (the ones that hold the circuit board on) you can pull the circuit board from the needle mount assembly. Replace with the celica circuit board and re-drill the holes ever so slightly on the Supra cluster housing so the screws will go in and still contact the floppy circuit board on the back of the cluster. If that makes sense.......
  18. I wouldn't have thought changing the ignition barrel would give you 18v as it's only a switch that completes a circuit. Personally, I'd probably start by cleaning all the earth points and make sure there's good ground on the alternator
  19. He's either blown himself up or is driving it....!
  20. Sorry to jump in but the 3UZ picks up tacho signal feed from pin 16 on the ECU - plug E5 (Black/yellow tracer). I'd have thought it should wire up the same to the tacho input on the cluster. I know it's not relevant to your build msmile, but hope you don't mind as it's all V8 relative!
  21. In fairness, the question was 'will my car be legal' not 'will it pass an MOT' I think Matt has more than answered the question.
