I'm still doing the odd day over at Silverstone, and jumped at the chance of todays dutys....
Started last night with a train down to London at 7pm, then across to Stansted airport, and stayed in the Hilton. Checked in for my flight at 7:50 this morning over to Cologne (Koln) in Germany. Met with a long standing customer at Cologne airport, who then took me to her house to collect her TT6 BPU Supra.
I left Cologne at 1pm (GMT) this afternoon, picked up the Autobahn through Germany, into the Netherlands, then Belgium, France, and arrived at the tunnel a shade after 4pm (GMT).
290 miles across Europe in just over 3 hours, speaks volumes for the roads over there. Not once did I get stuck in a jam, nor did I rush. 100mph max on the Autobahn felt comfortable, and the Supra was faultless. I was worried about how a BPU 6 speed would feel on such a treck, and it was an absolute pleasure! It is a true Grand tourer.
So onto the tunnel and back in Blighty at 4:45pm (GMT). It took the same 3 hours to do 130 miles from the tunnel to home! The motorway was a chore due to stupid tramlines left by lorries on a worn out road surface, and I think I managed 70mph for about 5 minutes.
Anyways, thought i'd share. Was uber impressed with the Supra on such a long trip. 420 miles, just over 6 hours, and a tank and a quarter of juice.
