pete.osborne69
As above really, Looking for either Toyota fipg (orange or three bond 1281) Or a tried and tested equivalent, this is for re-sealing my tranny pan once I have changed the autobox filter. My local Toyota dealer want £75 exc. VAT for this stuff and tbh I don't want to pay anything near that when I can get it from the US for £25 Inc. Import taxes What have people used and where can I get some for around £25 Thanks
Big Mark
Just use a silicone RTV sealant. That's what me and David P used when we worked on my box. Think I paid £5 for it.
pete.osborne69
How's that been holding up against leaks?
David P
RTV with no gasket is the way to go, just make sure that the sealing faces are perfectly clean with no trace of ATF. There's information re this in the Transmission Group. http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/group.php?discussionid=176&do=discuss
Swampy442
I used some Loctite stuff, cant remember the code, black, oil safe silicone. Works fine and was 7 quid I think.
David P
There are several different brews of stuff for this job available in several pretty colours, they all work as long as the faces are perfectly clean. Read the instructions before use because some types need a short air cure before assembly.
