"Make me an offer!"

Sorry if this has been discussed before but does anyone else find this annoying?

Firstly I would like to make it clear that this post is nothing to do with this forum!

But in general I find it a right pain in the **** when you enquire about buying something and the anwer you get is `make me an offer`.

Now of course I appreciate the seller wants the most for the goods and the buyer wants to pay the least amount, but why not just set a price?

As when you do `make them an offer` they get all upset about what you have offered? Even to the extent that they dont get back to you anymore or wont entertain discussing it with you any further!

If, as a seller you know the price you would be happy with why not state it from the start and the buyer can decide yes or no! Saves all the pissing about!

Phew...feel better ;0)

It bugs me too, thats why I always post a low offer. If people cannot be arsed to name a price why should I be arsed to put down a proper bid.

I also when I feel that I have given a fair offer hate when they just blank your offer or PM, I recently bid for a original headunit and am still waiting for person to get back to me although reading the PM an hour after I sent it. It is just damn rudeness.

I don't like the "make me an offer" either, although I does give yiu a chance to take the piss. If you make a low offer and the object doesn't sell then the buyer may come back to you!!

Happened to me last week. A guy with a white 94 pre-facelift Supe wanted £5600 and then put in e-bay. During our e-mails I said I wouldn't pay more than 4.5 - 5k. The car didn't go. After a week I get an e-mail saying that he would like to accept my offer of 5k if I was still interested.!!

I had just picked up a 96 facelift for the same price!!:)

Happy days.

H.

Agree with the post but if your selling something that you genuinely have no clue as to its worth then its ok.

Agreed.

On the flip side, advertise something for £50, why is it OK for people to offer £40 via PM, I said I would sell for £50, not £40
