Because its beyond repair. By the looks of it, it's had a really bad smack at some point, it's been repaired but the wheel was fractured around much of the rim. It will always be weak, so is not suitable for repair IMO.

I've been through this a few times, he would be much better sourcing an extra wheel. The alternative is a tyre blow out when the repair fails. This has happened to me, and I was very fortunate to be able to recover the car from a 90mph tank slapper.

It can be repaired no problem, but, with 5 visible cracks (inc the repairs) and possibility of more that aren't immediately obvious, I wouldn't risk using it even after welding etc.

I used to buy/repair/refurbish and sell alloy wheels as my own business. I have binned wheels that were in better condition due to not being willing to take the risk of having a comeback or, worst case, a death on my conscience. :)

Ibrar is away and due to it being the Easter weekend this weekend will be back at work on tuesday.

You'd be shocked just how many rims have cracks on the inner lip just like this one and there not on old

battered rims either.

Personally i dont like rims that are welded but it can be done, my concern would be the cracks you can't see

and unless the rim is crack tested you wont know.
