Jamesy Posted October 20, 2010 Share Posted October 20, 2010 Noticed recently that my rear BC racing coilovers are quite noisy over big/hard bumps - the fronts are very quiet, but it sounds like the rear nearside coilover bangs a bit. hackin_n_bashin Posted October 21, 2010 Share Posted October 21, 2010 I get a little noise from one of mine when i first start off, but the car is usually sat for a week or two between runs out. Did you set the dampening to softest for a while to bed them in when you fitted them? And out of curiosity, what settings are you running now, I'm just fiddling at the min with mine!! The only way to sort it will be to replace the shock mate, I would give apex a call and see what they reckon but I don't think they service them. I was hoping it just needed a little preload winding on, as it only happened when the cars been sat for a week, and then only the first time it moves. I've det mine to 6 clicks from softest at the front, and 3 at the rear, but still not happy with it. Can't decided whether it needs to be firmer or softer to sort it out!! Chris Wilson Posted October 21, 2010 Share Posted October 21, 2010 Has it lost its gas charge? If so they will knock a bit and stop as they warm up. As all gas is lost they'll hammer like hell and *ugger up internally. Do they use spherical bearing top mounts? If so cheap spherical bearings will start knocking after a bit. Got Lee to fit them last winter and they creaked a bit at first then not a whisper out of them all spring and summer, now it's started to creak again! I recommend them to everyone based on mine, Darron has just stuck a new set on his UK spec. The new HSD's come with adjustable pillow ball top mounts too. Well, my HSDs have been adequate so far, just over one year on there, mostly track abuse, including the ring. Mind you, one of the valve adjusters has broken, and the rear nearside squeaks under compression - could need some grease on the top ball joint.
