grahamc
which is better for me? My trip home is 5.5 miles which I currentl walk, however am considering running it. heart rate average is at around 110 - 120 (depending on the hill) at a decent pace takes me 1 hour 30 minutes. never run it before... juanchan
Sounds like plenty of daily exercise at an elevated heart rate! Isn't a minimum of 30 mins recommended daily? Depends on whether you want to achieve with the exercise too.
Kieran
Drive! You'll save yourself an hour a day which could be spent in the gym, and it's too bloody cold to be walking home!
grahamc
its only cold for the first 5 - 10 minutes... i dislike gyms and prefer he outdoors. I think I will build myself upwith runningsections, until I can run the whole thing.

If thats true, then that makes me happy. I know the idea is to maintain a decent heart rate, not to absolutely kill yourself. Bloody hell Graham, you are talking about walknig 5.5 miles.... I only do that when I'm pissed and can't get a taxi...!! Be careful running on hard surfaces as it will bugger your knees long term...... H. I actually enjoy the walk. I work in an office, at a desk and dont do much exercise. I used to struggle with sleeping and so on. Since starting to walk 2 weeks ago (3 days each week) I cant stay up more past 10pm Good point though, I have struggled with my knees in the past, too many years of doing stupid things. Do the walk to run program. I like the idea of perhaps running short sections, 5 - 10 minutes pieces, and not a flat out sprint.

You will look like such a tw@t chavs and thugs will want to give you a kicking and therefore force you to run all the way home!! Great incentive!! H.
