Just got knocked down

I haven't cycled all week as I have had problems with my shoulder but as that has all but cleared up and seeing as how I woke today to find a glorious morning very similar to our spring days, I decided to go out and enjoy.

I went to Kos Town and it was all going wonderfully well. The sun was shining, my shoulder was free from pain and there were lots of females to look at. Yes, it was going swimmingly up until I got to a busy junction. I decided the easiest way to cross would be to go down the wrong side (traffic coming towards me) and then cross over at a less busy part. This was fine until I decided to cross. As soon as I pushed off, a car came round the slight bend (yes, I stupidly did this on a bit of a bend) heading straight for me. I veered out of the way but too late and...bang! I hit the side of the car and in the process managed to take out the wing mirror with my hand! I then ended up going arse over head into the kerb and finally landed with a thud against a tree.

Luckily for me, the female driver stopped and took me to the hospital where they found I had broken 2 knuckles and also had 2 more breakages further up the hand. I also needed lots of stitches in various cuts but, all in all, I really was a lucky chappy.

So, here I am feeling a mixture of pain, relief and self misery - but mainly counting my lucky stars that I am still around to tell the tale.

Given that I don't have any painkillers yet, not too bad actually. Like I said, it could have been a lot worse so a couple of broken bones is acceptable. ;)

Make sure you get some in the house today though... cause it'll be when you wake up in the mornin that's the killer.

As I have said to loads off the forum, "my house is your house". :)

I'm on my way, but I'm not helping you out with the right hand situation! I'm also guessing the tree is no more along with the car :D

Hope you heal soon mate, how are the knees holding up?

I don't think the pharmacy is open tonight but I am lucky that my neighbour has some to "lend" me. :)

LOL, the old tree did take a bit of a bashing. It is surprising how much damage a body that is a tad over 10 stone does when it is hurled at you like an exocet :D

The knees have been great Bernard. I reckon the climate and healthier eating have helped a lot but the real test will come over winter when I cook more at home and the colder weather starts.
