RobSheffield
Nice one The situation is believed to have become irretreavable after Alonso threatened to reveal evidence of the team's involvement in the Spygate scandal during a heated row in Hungary. ivan
Good riddance to the whining tosspot I say. And good luck to McLaren next year. With all the odds stacked against them from their penalties this year, they're going to need it.
jamesmark
Let's hope McLaren dominate the sport next year, Button would be a good replacement.

Alex
It's rumoured that he *can't* (as part of the contract cancellation); Join a car manufacturer. Thus ruling out Renault. Who Alonso himself said he didn't want to rejoin. So that leaves privateers....Redbull and Williams being the strongest. Redbull have both their drivers contracted for next year. Williams have a vacancy. So the EASY route is for FA to join Williams on a 1 year contract and then move to Ferrari the year after. The hard route is to join RedBull and depose DC of his drive, with DC switching to either a Torro Rosso or to Williams' spare seat or giving up. I expect the truth will be completely unpredictable though, as that seems to be the way this season has gone!

JustGav
I'm not a fan of Button, he is too much like the male supermodel of the sport, always looking fly, but never actually winning....
Alex
Latest reports suggest he CAN join ANY team. Renault will be easiest for him in this case....but he left them for a reason....RBR are still a hot favourite.
colsoop
I thought coulthard had another years extension on his contract ? I still think Renault is his destination. I would like to see jenson button and lewis hamilton at Mclaren that would be great.
Alex
I don't think Button can join another British driver at McLaren, it would alienate some sponsors inc Mercedes!

MrDriver
What if he ends up at Toyota? They pay the most money I think. Going back to Renault could be a mistake, but you never know if Flavio comes back with a great car. - P -
