Have just sent a member off here £110 via paypal for some goods. When looking at the payment it has been sent as an e-cheque what ever that is!!

I have phoned them and they said it was a security measure because this ammount is slightly higher than what i have ever sent before. WTF!!!

So now it wont clear for 7-9 days.

Has anyone else had this because the person on the phone was foreign and im sure was just talking bollocks.

Sounds like rubbish to me mate, don't understand this if the money has been taken from your account straight away where does it go for 7 days???

Sounds like a money making scheme cause they'll get interest on your money until it goes into the other persons account.

If they're doing this with everyone they'll be raking it in

Yes I've had this problem Kieren, I sent £50 to someone and they sent it as an e-cheque. Now I have sent alot more than £50 before so ebay must be lying about it being a security measure, and are just complete tools.

In the end I had to then send another £50 as an instant transfer and ask for a refund on the e-cheque.

I have had a similar problem. Since becoming a member on here and ordering stuff for the Soop I had my account suspended due to an increase in activity! Guy on the phone couldn't tell me how to reset it so I had to leave and for a few days before trying again!

It because they have changed the way payments are sent, if you try sending another payment you will see the default option is now echeque direct from your account, therefore as Ste said making them more money! You now have to choose that you want a Direct transfer!

it is stupid and a complete rip off!

Ah is that why its taking a huge amount of time to get my refund on a non existent Nintendo Wii I ordered! The git said he'd 20 in stock, he then sold them all in 2 hours, and its only after chasing him, he's revealed that he didn't actually have any at all! Naughty boy. Negative feedback from all his buyers I think :(

EDIT: The refund was by e-cheque, incidentally!

Well...i love paypal as its so quick simple and easy.

And an e-cheque is actually a method of payment from somebody who is not a verified paypal user or are using a bank account to send the payment instead of a credit/debit card which is instant.

I mistakenly did this the other day, but when I used my card instead it sent instantly.

God im pissed off!!! It wont let me select any other payment method than e-cheque. Fu****g tossers. I needed these parts to get the car running over the weekend, AND to order an exaust from the US. Fat chance this e-cheque thing will even get to them.

Are there any alternatives to paypal that people use????

Dont expect it back.

E-cheque is supposed to raise the security for Paypal users, however it has gained attention from scammers who will pay for things (or in your case refund you) using Paypal, and then after a certain amount of time will say that theyre acccounr was hacked and they did not autthorise the payments.

E-cheque allows the money to comestraight back out of your accoutn and back into theirs.

You can not send a payment from your card until you have verified it for secuirity purposes.

Paypal will add two small amounts to your debit card account which you need to view and then enter them in to Paypal, thus proving the account is yours. You will then be able to send instant payments

Cor blimey guvnor! Well the refund is being controlled through an Ebay/Paypal official dispute, so hopefully someone will ensure I get the refund, as I need it for the order that I've placed at sendit.com (they have some in stock allegedly).

Already done this last month and i am a verified user. The thing they are saying is that because i have bnever sent paments before that are over £100, they will only allow me to send e-cheques. And i needed to sent two paymetns of £120 today to different people so they have delayed this for me the ass holes!!

Im having to mess around going into town to pay cash into my brothers account, then to pay on his paypal. What a farce this is. Will definately be considering whether to stay with paypal after al this hassle.

it was a checkout on a website so could only do it as one for each, all sorted now, got it sorted on my brothers paypal.

It's a joke that you have to go to these lengths to use a service that is meant to make life easier for you!!!:(

i know its rediculous. Anyway quick question:

How do these E-Cheques work, the reason im asking is because i sent one to a member off here for an e-manage and i need the e-manage asap, what im worried about is that if he sends the item to me, i dont want him worrying that it may bounce or i may cancel it and not send the money again etc etc..........

Obviously i wont do this but he doesnt know me from Adam.

Will see what happens i suppose.

If someone hacked your PP account and transfered £1500 to their own account, you'd be moaning that PP didn't do anything about it!! This way you get over a week to check your emails and see the transfer, so you can stop it if it wasn't from you, hence completely removing the need to chase your money around after the theft. Sounds like a good idea to me.

But it's also true that it'll be making them huge amounts of interest while it's in limbo!!

i know but its £110. And even though i phoned them and answered endless security questions they still couldnt do anything. Rediculous. the interest they will get is madness aswel.

i been buying lots off ebay lately using paypal.last big thing was 2 bowling balls for £97.not had any problems.heard lots of people saying they wont use paypal again.the thing with internet banking is that they used to take quite a few days to transfer money from your bank to the person you paying, they will have made loads on intrest holding all your money before they pay them.

i heard something on radio about them speeding up payments through internet banking to a day or so.everybodys out to try take your money

paypal is ok for me as its instant and you get your items a lot faster.send a cheque and it takes ages for them to send your goods.

I hate them too.

My credit card details got stolen so my cards etc were cancelled. I need to transfer some of my paypal funds to my bank, so I log in, but they want me to answer some security questions - one of them being my credit card details. Obviously this is the old card so I don't have the details. Nothing I can do about it, can't get past the screen.

So I ring up, 30+ mins on hold, I get through to some IDIOT. I describe the screen I am seeing, all he keeps saying is "reset your password" over and over. Eventually I do it AGAIN and it (suprisingly) doesn't help. This goes on forever with me getting so angry it's untrue. Not at any point does he give me any indication that he has understood my problem. He say's he will send out a new password by post. I ask how that will help. He say's it will, he can't say way but he has to send it.

Over 6 weeks later it arrives (nice) so I log on, enter the password "Your identity could not be verified. Contact techincal support"

ARE YOU ******* KIDDING ME?!?!?!?!?!?!?!!
