Stiff steering

Recommended Posts

My runabout is playing up. The steering seems to stiffen up then suddenly go back to normal. This usually happens when travelling straight for a few seconds you go to make a slight turn and its stiff then all of a sudden unsticks. Any ideas before I get under and check it out at the weekend? ps its not power steering

Cheers Dave

Just for anyone who cares, it turned out to be the universal joint that attatches the steering rack to the column. A common problem with older fords apparently, mind you took the whole rack out before I discovered it.:(. Still all fixed and back on the road.
