Cleaning Carbon Fibre

Recommended Posts

I have had my TRD with carbon wing for about 2 months and always cleaned the car on a weekly basis, just body shampoo and dry and polished it every 3 or 4 weeks.

I have noticed on the top surface of the wing it is starting to cloud over, looks like its in the lacquer...?

At first I thought it was moisture or something which had got in thought the end of the wing during cleaning or something.

Is there a special technique to cleaning or something I can use?

Thanks Carl

Its the UV light that does it.

When you make a 'bling' carbon composite, if the gelcoat used is not UV stable, you can add a UV stabaliser, however if you dont mix it well enough, or use enough the gelcoat will go cloudy/milky over time due to UV exposure.

i laquer my carbon brings it back up..

How do you mean, rub the current lacquer down with a fine wet and dry, then spray lacquer over the top.

What lacquer do you use, just a tin of ol' halfords best...?
