Muffleman
Hi all, My GZ TT has lowered and uprated suspension, but it also has a Veilside bodykit, including ground hugging nose. As cool as it looks (IMO), the sound of it hitting the ground isn't so cool ! So I want to put on adjustable coilovers, that way I can drop it when I want to and raise it for 'everyday' driving. But I've got a couple of questions. 1) Anyone know what the height range is ? ie do they go from standard ride height to 'say' -40mm ? Or can they actually be raised higher than std ? 2) TEIN website says that rear interior needs modifying to take the coilovers, is this a lot of work ? 3) Anyone used the EDFC ? If so, how soft\hard does it go ? The softest setting may still be bone rattling for all I know ! Ok, that's one more than a couple but the coilovers + EDFC comes to £1,300+fitting so I kinda wanna make the right choice ! Cheers Matt
Dragonball
Talk to CJ and Chris about the Teins - they have them Check out Chris Wilson's uprated suspension package - apparently excellent I had HKS - very good Terry swears by the JLT
Muffleman
Cheers, will do. I actually have Ohlins coilovers on my MR2 Turbo, and they really are good - but they should be for the price Matt

Dale B
Ive just recently fitted Tein Flex coilovers (bout 6 weeks ago) but didnt need to do any rear mods they just fit straight in. Have to say thou Im not that impressed with them theyre a bit "wobbly" on the arse end. Also the electronic ajustment is for damper ride not ride height, this has to be done manually with 2 spanners (supplied).
V
Hi, I've got the HA coil over's but with out the electronic adjustment and the rear plastic cover trim is a tight fit to stay clipped in. I'm pretty sure this will give you problems if you fit the gizmo on top as well. Might just have to push it up a bit. May be corrected, but i dont belive you can adjust the height as you please, just the dampers. The height adjustment is done via a spanner ect. not electonically. regards Sv
supradibbs
I have the older HAs on mine and the rear plastic trim no longer fits!!!!
Muffleman
Thanks guys, I knew the height wasn't electronically adjustable and that it's just the damping. How stiff have you got your rears Boneyard ? Bit worrying if they're a bit 'wobbly' Cheers Matt
Dale B
got them set on 16...... recommended maximum damping. Yeah tis a bit worrying. Getting someone to look at them next week.

V
I've got mine on the softest setting too, which i find great, apart from the very most bumpiest of roads. I cant fault them for ride quality, even for reasonable journeys. I think the hardest setting just locks them out totally as its as hard as f***. I thought about the EDFC but i couldnt see myself using it as the softest setting is fine. Not sure how this setting comapres with the standard setup though, as it came with them on. SkyJawa
I'm about to have the Tein Super Street kit fitted to my GTR. I've heard on soft it won't spill your coffee and on hard its great for the track. Personally, I'm not bothering with the EDFC as when I find the right setting it will stay there and only change for track so its not really worth it. Can't wait to get these filling rattling Kei Office Drift Spec coilovers off! I must say, they'd be great on track etc, as there is NO body roll but I just can't live with them for daily use.......... Best of all with the Super Street - 650 quid brand new for height and damping adjustable sus - superb

So is there much difference between the Flex coilovers and the Super Streets ? £650 is easier to get past the 'pleasure prevention officer' indoors, she did rather frown when I said £1,300 !!! Mind you, I've taken the grief for the Flex's now so I might aswell have them Although, £650 on Super Streets would leave me £650 to spend and the missus would be none-the-wiser - hmmmmmmmmm Matt
SkyJawa
I don't think there is a great deal of difference, I think its mainly the Flex come with Pillow Ball mounts and the Super Street doesn't, just normal hard rubber or something. For road use I can't see the point in pillow ball mounts, other than they give a little camber adjustment. £650 is for a GTR, the scoob kit is more expensive 700-750 IIRC, no idea what it is for a supe, but would be very similar I imagine..... cashpoint
acording to the tein site the super street for the supra is £658 without top mount and £916 with both drop the front and rear by 20mm the flex manages 20mm front and 15mm rear. http://www.tein.co.uk

Lez
I've only had my car a few weeks and to be honest I was concerned with the rough ride. I have Tein (Sport Spec Driving Master) Type HA coilovers with Front & Rear cross braces and lots of fitting instructions all in Japanese. After some internet searching I realised that these were adjustable 1 - 16(hardest) mine were set at 14. For every day use I now leave mine set at 5. SkyJawa
Actually with Tein stuff 16 is the softest and 0 is the hardest
Lez
Actually with Tein stuff 16 is the softest and 0 is the hardest I was guessing, - can't read japanese manuals!!! LOL That means mine are set at 11, thanks for that.
SkyJawa
No worries I run the EDFC on mine, thats the reason I know as it knocks them down to 0 at hardest and 16 (or 32 as it can do half adjustments if you set it) for softest. Hardest is fully clockwise as a point of note. I drive some pretty crap roads on my commute so have it left at 16 most days, when I'm out and about generally have it on about 8-10 (less body roll) and on smooth roads, really giving it some or on track between 0-3 TBH, the Super Streets I run IMHO are outstanding value for money
