Bite Advice

Antihistamine (if you're not allergic) and get yourself off to either A&E or your GP in the morning. If you do have an infection, they can, I hate to say travel up the leg if you get my drift. I hope it's only a mild allergic reaction but best to have it seen by a health professional asap.

yeah deffinitely. My lil one is alergic to gnat bites and balloons when she gets one. She got munched on saturday nite in bed and her eye lids and arm, hand and finger ballooned and she couldn't open her eyes properly. She looked like Will Smith in Hitch so took her to the clinic he said get her to A and E and they kept her in Sunday nite and most of Monday. She's on a course of Peritin (spell), some banana gunge stuff and as some Epipens or something of idrenilin in case a bite ever stops her breathing properly by swelling up her wind pipe,

Stupid little things insect bites but can be serious if left. Go 2 either ur GP or A and E depending on the severity but don't leave it and put bite cream on it. Dr said after 3 hrs bite creams shite and does nothing.

has it fell off yet:d

Ha, no! It has gone down overnight. I'm keeping an eye on it today and have a doctors appointment for this evening in case it swells up again. But my ankle was a real pain to walk on this morning. Last night my foot looked like a babies, fat with little toes poking out.

Some flying ants do bite AFAIK. If it really swells up and goes black it could be Blandford fly an exotic mossie that a private school imported for studying and then released in Blandford by mistake, blighters prospered in our mild environment and have spread out from there (for future reference). Horse fly bites are more like tiny slashes as they cut the skin open to get to the blood. Last nasty bite I had I have no idea what it was but my whole arm swelled up and the itching was so bad I wanted to cut my own arm off. I used a couple of those injury ice packs to tame it a bit and some freezer blocks. Doctor gave me horse pill anti-histamines. They were so big I didn't know if I was meant to swallow them or stick them up my ass lol.

 DB! I did have a look at the Blandford fly.. but this thing didnt look like the pics I've seen of them. I thought it was an ant when I first saw it, but winged.. I've never had a reaction to them like this before.. I felt this one bite me too!

If it's a horsefly bite it will soon subside and clear up, but the ones to be very wary of are tick bites, they can be very nasty with serious side effects. was any part of the biter left in or under the skin? If so, get it looked at. Horsefly bites are a daily occurrence here, you become self immunised against them in the end, same as bee keepers don't bother about a few stings.

Yup right up until your body has had enough like my gran who kept black bees (viscous bastids them are) Now if anything stings her she swells up like michelin man and has to get a shot in her before she dies of toxic summat or other.

Horse flies are kinda stripey. I used to have little competitions with horse flies. Me V Flies. See how many I could kill V how many bites they got in a 1 hour period. 76 to 15 I believe was my record.

It could be if you're allergic or if they were eating filth before you... my mum would never go near the stables in the summer as she was madly allergic so couldn't take the risk.
