Sparky
So glad i Replaced mine when i did.Mine was cracking too. Ive got pics coming up next week of how well the garage bodged the clutch and flywheel! F***ers!
neil tt
Thats the second one I've seen in the last couple of weeks, other one was on a Soarer in Aus. One broken piece came through the footwell, but thankfully missed the driver legs, they do an awful lot of damage when the go:(
Pete
Oh yes, it makes a hell of a mess. One reason why I didn't lighten the kitcar one as my legs are right next to it!
bromy
Probably too much metal taken off during the lightening process or in the wrong place, looks to have let go from the inside out around the mounting holes area
Thorin
Scary stuff when you realise he could have easily been amputated.
Chris Wilson
You should NOT lighten or generally *ugger about with cast iron (90% of stock) flywheels. If you have a perfomance engine that turns a lot more revs than standard you should be running a one piece chrome molybdenum steel flywheel. Nothing good ever comes from exploding flywheels, the energy released is awesome and a ring gear makes a crude but effective saw. If you just MUST mess with stock flywheels you should use a kevlar reinforced ballistic blanket round the bellhousing.
