Just seems strange - imagine 15 years ago when the internet didn't really exist in most peoples homes and we didn't have forums- what did people do to entertain themselves then? Moved upto Peterborough for a job, been here six years now (gulp!) but most of the mates I made up here have moved away (or got married so not allowed to play any more) and all my old mates are either in Essex or live in London now. Only thing is, I said yes when drunk and really wish I hadn't. Just because I cant go out tonight and get drunk! (christening is tomorrow!) I'm in a similar situation, moved to a fairly rough area (property investment combined with work location). My long time mates which have been together since we were 4 yrs old (10 of us) are now spread all over the UK and meet every few months as a group as well as in-between. However I don't know anyone local outside this group. A minority of the neighbours are absolute scum (junkies and prolific criminals). Combined with the local area which consists of 10% council house scum means a very unpleasant place to live. No one wants to know anyone else apart from the older people. The local pubs are either boarded up or no-go areas. Very difficult place to get to know anyone unless you're an inbred local. I'm looking forward to cashing in on the SE housing boom and moving back towards the west country.... soon.
