toyotasuprauk
I sold an old cd player on ebay tonight and listed the postage as £10 for United Kingdom. The winning bidder is from Belfast and when checking online the postage to Belfast is £22 rather than £12 to the mainland. Do you know if I have to post to Belfast for my listed price? Next time I will always put UK mainland only!

toyotasuprauk
Really? Thats crap I might as well have put it in the bin then.
Pixelfill
you could try contacting the buyer explaining that the postage is so much more, and ask whether they are prepared to meet you half way on the postage costs. or try to get the full amount from them? If you're lucky you might recover some of your losses Mike
ivan
What delivery service did you specify in the listing and how heavy is the player? Could you not send it as a standard surface mail packet? I'm pretty sure a surface packet of 2kg is only about a tenner to anywhere.

I bought some goods and just recieved them this morning....i paid £7.01 for them (inc postage)...... postage on the box said £7.55. Now the items i bought arn't worth much.....but i'm going to contact the seller and at least give them a few quid for their trouble......all comes down to who you're dealing with i suppose. toyotasuprauk
Thanks for the replies. I haven’t contacted the seller yet was just checking things out before getting in touch. I listed the postage as United Kingdom only. I guessed the weight at 6kgs but after checking its 4.2 kilos so I think with a box and packing it will be about 5 kilos. I got the price from the parcelforce website, for 5kg with parcelforce 48 its £14.25 to a postcode on the mainland, when I enter the Belfast postcode it jumps up to £22.60. There must be a cheaper courier. I have two other big boxes to post tomorrow too, one is 15kgs which is being priced at £18.25 from parcelforce. Supragal
I always say that it's X amount to UK mainland- I'm sure it's an option you select. I also believe that there is something that says about upping the postage for international buyers... you could try that one? Did they select recorded delivery in your choices? If so you'll have to send it by that (in theory) if it was a generic £10 then send it however!
Rob
Wow those prices are a bit more like it! No proof of delivery is a bit of a risk though. Again, if you want to offer a guarenteed delivery service, you should state it in the auction, otherwise it's standard post, and hard luck on the buyer if it goes missing in transit. The buyer is happy for it to go standard post. A tip for the future when selling on ebay always put UK mainland only if you dont already I certainly will be!
