Havard
I thought that Christmas was over.!! Got a letter this morning from a Mr Taxman. He says that as I have been a good boy, he feels the urge to write me a cheque for £1500 and a few pence. I was on the verge of being very grateful indeed when I then realised its a very small percentage of the phuqqing stupid amount of tax that I have paid since 2003. Still, gives me a better budget for the Supe and a few extra's. Anyone else been given some "free money" recently?? H.

DaveK
Nice try Dave..... How about you pay the £1500 and I pay the £100?? Oh shit!!! H. You've put it in writing now! I wouldn't mind that much - but I've already paid Mr. taxman a huge amount of money through my salary. It seems rather unreasonable to make me pay more! Sheefa
I had this at uni mate after my placement year here at Zurich Insurance. I applied for a tax rebate and expected to get about £400-£500 back as I was back in FT Education - final year of my degree. It took only 2 months to process which was quite good. A cheque arrived at my home address so my mum called me up and went "Greg, a cheque has arrived for you for £640 odd quid" I was well happy. Then she dropped the best news of all. "Another has arrived with it to though for the second half of the year for £1,300 quid". All in all nearly £2k back from the taxman! Greg

bungy
I managed to squeeze £3500 back out of the tax man last year but again only a small percentage back from what I had paid. I suppose someone has to sponsor single mums, immigrants and dole boys.

If £3500 was a small percentage of what you paid in tax it sounds like you earn a shit load of money?? How long was the rebate over.?? Mine has worked out at about £500 per year. H.
