SupraKid
how do i make my Supra sound like this?? Ive got a HKS dump vavle at the moment, do i have to change that? http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-1716856710745112132&q
Homer
I think the sound you're referring to is the external wastegate, not the dump valve. The 'fluttery' sound is from the wastagate, the stock one is internal so you cannot make it sound like that. Only real option is to 'go single' (or twin!) Mas
I have seen many RX7's with this sort of sound + always thought its from the BOV! wrong again then
rik
I think the sound you're referring to is the external wastegate You'll know all about that soon, eh Darryl

Homer
so theres no way of making my Twin turbo sound like that? Nope Well, there is a way but its complex and not cost effective - convert the stock manifold to have an external wastegate.
jaymdee
Could you not sample the sound and play it loud on your stereo - this is both cheap and gives you what you want

Guest mk47
believe it or not.. sometimes my sard bov sounds like a wastegate on low revs, if i lift my foot off the gas slowly it makes that kind of noise ill try and record it.. sounds great hehe
RobSheffield
You do occasionally get that sort of sound from the stock internal WG guys, as MK47 says, lift off after gentle acceleration in 3rd and it will faintly sound MK47, its not your SARD Bov, but the internal WG very lightly fluttering
Guest mk47
cheers rob, i always thought it was the bov because before id put it on it didnt sound like that at all.
SimonB
This has got to be one of the most common myths. The wastegate doesn't make a noise. All it does is open when at full boost to vent excess exhaust gas - that makes a noise if you have an external gate with a screamer pipe, but it's a roaring noise only at full boost. The other noises are either the BOV, or compressor surge or stalling. The reason big singles have this is because they are more likely to suffer from this. Jim_1979
Yeah... in the days of my old mr2 if you changed the one way valve around on the stock bov you could make it sound like this. Again, it was thought to be because of compressor stall.
