Warning lamp but no code stored

For a little while now I have noticed that occasionally after I have accelerated hard the warning light comes up. At first I thought it was when I braked but that is just coincidence. I noticed last night it came on twice as I slowed down, whether I braked or not. It only flashes for a second or so and only after hard acceleration. I have a day off today and this morning armed with my bit of wire looked for fault codes stored but there seems not to be any. Any suggestions what it might be? This may be a clue, I have noticed it only tends to do it early on into a journey. Never does it after say 15 /20 mins.

Strange.

As supra-man said. :)

I've never heard of the light coming on for only a second and then failing to log any fault codes. The only other likely possibility at this stage is a dodgy circuit board where the warning light is, but the symptoms don't seem right for that to be the cause, i.e. if it's a dodgy solder then the lamp might flicker or something.

To confirm brake fluid is the problem, when the warning light comes on, the brake light (near the stock temp gauge) will also light. The fluid level is *very* sensitive, so lifting off from accelerating, braking - anything that might make the fluid fluctuate around the sensor will set it off.

It's the brake fluid level. The clincher is the fact it doesn't come on later into a journey. The calipers have heat in them by then, the fluid has expanded a little, the reservoir level rises, and the sensor is no longer triggered. Oh, and you are wearing blue jockey shorts, and you shave with a window to your left hand side. Bye from Sherlock :D

Not only is it likely to be low brake fluid, but the chances are, your brake pads are very low and probably need changing soon.

As the thickness of the pads wears down, the fluid level drops, so it's worth checking the pads before you top up the fluid. Otherwise you'll end up having to remove some fluid when the pads need changing in a few weeks. :)

WTF is that all about Chris??? Anyhow I have a window both ends of my bathroom and I shave a little as possible, from Watson!

Thanks guys, I am sure you are right. I have known for a while now the pads are right on the edge and am waiting for some new ones I bought of a member fo the forum to arrive. I do have a set that I got from Chrissz to put in and plan to do that this weekend or on Monday as i have another day off work then. Will check the fluid afterwards.

Thanks again.
