b.weeks
Hi All, Went drag racing at the weekend which was great fun at Crail Raceway. Just wondered about carrying out a few upgrades, namely a limited split differential. Has anyone got any suggestions as to one to get? (Car = J-Spec '96 Twin Turbo) NB Thinking of big single turbo upgrade in the future so must be able to cope with 600+ rwhp. Cheers, Ben.
Thorin
Are you auto or manual? Manual all came with a limited slip diff as default, it was optional on auto's. There is a TRD LSD available which a few members on here have fitted.
Thorin
Copied from another thread as I couldn't remember which way around it was to check... "Look on the VIN plate, where it says Trans/Axel then a load of numbers then right at the end A for open Diff or B for LSD."
carl0s
I was hoping to find pictures of a broken diff

TRD do a good one speak to Lovatt or Nic on here if its an auto, money would be better spent on a 3k stall and build transmission over a diff >
Nic
The TRD LSD is a very worth while upgrade, gives good increase in traction. Ben if you want prices give me a shout, as I can get very good deals on the TRD LSD.
dangerous brain
Doesn't your diff have to be a certain type to actually house the TRD one?
Nic
Doesn't your diff have to be a certain type to actually house the TRD one? TRD make 2 versions of the LSD to fit the 2 different diff cases used on the Supra. 41301-JA800 TRD LSD This is for all pre-facelift Supras with factory LSD fitted. 41301-JS402 TRD LSD This is for all facelift Supras. Also for pre-faclift Supras without factory LSD fitted.

I completely ruined a diff in my last supra on the line at the pod. Launched so hard the number plate fell off the back lol I will try and find some pics, I had some close up ones of the cracks in the casing as well as some mightily chewed up teeth

Now looking at this again. Mikey - could you explain how the 3k stall and build transmission over a diff works? what are the benefits of this over a LSD? Can they both be done in conjunction? Cheers, Ben.
