How to attract graduates for employment?

Pete

Recommended Posts

I've just spent an hour or so looking for graduate site that I can list a web design/developer job on and they all want stacks of dosh to advertise on.

Does anyone know any decent way to advertise to graduates that won't cost the Earth?

Cheers.

Put an ad up on uni job boards.

You mean goto individual local(ish) unis or there's a website call Uni Job Boards?

Just worried that will limit my catchement missing people that moved away from the area to go to uni.

I remember them being popular with undergraduates and post graduates when I was there, are you looking for a full time position? You could try using sandwich placement students etc.

Yeah, contact unis you want to target and ask to speak to their Industrial placement department or something, they should be able to give you good advice generally.

Hi Pete....we go straight to the course tutors (via heads of dept). Find a few Uni's that do the relevant courses and put yourself about a bit. The tutors usualy have a soft spot for the top-enders and the prospective employment grape-vine is wide spread.

pete, remember what I discussed before? Perhaps that is an option worth looking into. I haven't thought about anything else since.

I told you last time, I'm not into wife swapping and I don't do THAT with cucumbers...oh...do you mean the other thing we spoke about?

Offer them shit loads of money for sitting on their arses doing nowt, tell them how good they are and all the years at Uni makes them the elite despite the lack of experience in the real world. Oh, and let them start at 2pm so they can spend half the day dossing in bed :D

Should get them interested?

Fuck them, I'm interested!

At least I've got a bit of common sense and will do a small amount of work per day.

Saves a shed load of interviewing.

Ps, why would someone with a dreadlocks, tribal tattoo all over his face, pierced eye-brows nose tongue and lip, mahoosive holes through his ear-lobes with rings through them...think that wearing a suit would impress us ?

What about a local recruitment agency?

When I left college I went to a few in my area and left them my CV, got quite a few calls about jobs with a whole range of different sized companies.

I suspect that if you're looking for a perm guy then they charge a one off fee when you accept an applicant...?
